2020 is considered to be my "Year of RPG II" (2017 was my first year). Had to finish every catalog of Metroid games and Red Dead Redemption II before jumping into it though. I'm currently wrapping up my Earthbound/Mother Trilogy and I'm still looking into my next RPG game (or series) into playing.

It's been a while since I've updated this list...

Made some progress in what I had planned for 2020 and added a few titles in there as usual. I haven't played that much more because of the pandemic tho. As a recap, this was my list for 2020 as it was written at the beginning of the year...

I don't really plan out my entire year, but I keep a list of the games I want to get to before any others. I don't always follow this list too strictly though ;)

Batman Arkham Asylum - Tried to start this one a couple times now. Seems really good, I just need to get into it. I want to get to the others in the series eventually as well.
Dark Souls 2 - I want to beat at least one Dark Souls game before I die, and this one is considered the easiest.
Dragon Age Origins - I love the Mass Effect trilogy, so I want more classic Bioware. I'm hoping to get through the entire Dragon Age series at some point.
Final Fantasy X - Recently got the remastered version for the Switch, and really want to try it out.
Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories - Just beat the original KH, and was actually somewhat disappointed, but I still want to beat the entire series. XD
Luigi's Mansion 3 - Luigi's Mansion makes me happy :)
Nier Automata - I've heard so many good things about this one. Apparently you have to beat it multiple times to truly beat it too. Sounds interesting.
Resident Evil 2 Remake - Considered by many to be the best in the series, so I'm really excited to play this one.
The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild - Why haven't I played this yet? I don't know.
Octopath Traveler - Currently playing this. I'm about 10 hours in, and I really like it.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Remake - Relive my 1080 ladder-stall tactical cancel no-scope days again in better graphics? I'm in.
Animal Crossing New Horizons - Do you also have a crush on Mabel's sister?

I played Final Fantasy X for the first time last year. It was an amazing game, i really liked it. Definitely a must try game maybe it's not for everybody, but definitely give it a chance.

It's time for one final update. I'm almost positive that I won't complete more games this year. I played a lot less this year (no thanks to Aug-Sept-Oct-Nov) with ~200 hours of game time. My average is usually more around ~250 hours per year. Still, I have played many games from the list I had planned at the beginning of the year and added a few interesting things in between...

Jokes aside, many games were announce after I made the list, and Animal Crossing New Horizons pretty much took a hold of my gaming time for way longer than I could have expected xD

Maybe I'll try making a list for 2021 and see if I can stick to it by the end of next year

Checking in on my very minimal list:

1. Keep working through my retro backlog (finish SNES, keep progressing through Arcade, start Sega Saturn) - Finished 12 arcade games, didn't do much with SNES but only have 5 left in the backlog. Haven't started Saturn yet
2. Get a PS4 cheap and play some of the best exclusives - didn't do this until December, playing my first one now!
3. Play Cyberpunk 2077 on PC, if my system can do it justice - still got my old PC, and waiting for the game to be ready (in a couple years)
4. Have fun - done!

Some things which I didn't plan for, but were awesome:
1. Getting totally sucked in to Final Fantasy XIV and its expansions, which took up about 1/4 of my gaming time this year
2. Buying a Switch and getting totally sucked in to playing and collecting for it
3. Playing through a bunch of Telltale games with my wife
4. Binging most of the Ys series
5. Participating in more of the Games of the Month

All in all, a really good year!

Well I had only made a minimal plan for 2020:

Danganronpa Ultra Despair Girls: check

Steins;gate series: I've only played Steins;Gate Elite. Still need to play Steins;Gate 0 and Linear Bounded Phenogram.

Pillars of Eternity 2: check

Hollow Knight: Silksong: did not release in 2020. Ma heart, ma soul, Team Cherry, they are broken.

"every DLC that might be released for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night": actually, I'm not even aware of any DLCs for that game, at least not any that provide new areas. I guess I didn't feel much like going back to it after all.

I got through more games than I had planned to...but not the ones I had planned to play. I bought new consoles and got back into a time-suck of a game I retired specifically because I didn't have time to play anything else. Still, I played a lot of great games and found some new favorites! The rest can (hopefully) wait until 2021 :)

✅ If that Assassin's Greed game based upon Norse mythology comes to fruition, count me in for that.
❌ If it releases in 2020 and won't make my PC implode, I'd definitely play Halo: Infinite.
