2 games this month:

1) Robotech: Battlecry - the levels get a little repetitive, but it was a great cross between Transformers and Ace Combat.

2) LEGO Marvel Avengers - Maybe I'm a simpleton, but these games never get old. Beat all the DLC, too, which added some variety to the core game.

Not my most productive month, but with a 50 hour/week job, 6 kids, and a backlog of almost 900 games, it's going to take the rest of my life to beat them anyway, so what's the rush?

Another good month, though not as wildly productive as June. I did sink about 30 hours into Xenoblade Chronicles X, which will get beaten...I dunno, in another two or three months probably.

Beat
July 12 - Hacknet
July 12 - Off-Peak
July 16 - SUPERHOT
July 25 - SUPERHOT: MIND CONTROL DELETE
July 26 - The Norwood Suite

Retired
July 11 - Opus Magnum
July 25 - Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Best: Giving this to Off-Peak and The Norwood Suite. Off-Peak was my first foray into Cosmo D's games. They are surreal, like, artistically surreal. Strange, eccentric, great music and art style. Very short. Highly recommended for something a little weird.

Worst: Giving this to Animal Crossing. I finally understand why these games are so popular but on a personal level of enjoying games, I do not care. Children could play this to learn about consumerism and debt.

Lockdown continues. Games have been beaten. I feel like, aside from the few (short indie) hits, nothing has really captured my interest as much as usual this month. I was hoping Ghost of Tsushima would do that, but it hasn't.

Best was a surprise for me this month, being Creaks! This is the latest game by Amanita Design, a puzzle game (Not a point and click this time, don't incorrectly set your expectations!) that somewhat follows in Braid's footsteps. It features a collection of progressively more challenging puzzles that gradually introduces new mechanics, alongside some mini games to break up the pace. My favorite thing about the game is the soundtrack that kicks in progressively as you get closer to solving each puzzle. It made playing the game incredibly satisfying, alongside the studio's expected incredible artwork and fun animation. Don't miss out on this one if you enjoy puzzle games. Also, a special shout out to Panzer Paladin that I also absolutely loved this month. It's Tribute Games' latest project, and as a huge fan of the studio, I had a blast playing another amazing retro throwback, this time mashing together Mecha anime, Castlevania, Zelda II and Blaster Master. Is it their best work yet? Probably, but I still have a soft spot for Flinthook.

Most Disappointing was definitely We Were Here Together. After a couple great first entries, this third one seemed like it had a lot of promise, but unfortunately it proved to be a buggy uninspired mess. They clearly ran out of ideas after the second game and forced out a third. Most of the puzzles are vague, some are actually broken and you need a lucky reload to be able to pass them (if you can even tell that they aren't working properly). Such a disappointment considering how good the first two games were.

This month I plan on finishing up Paper Mario: The Origami King, Ghost of Tsushima, and Kid Icarus: Uprising, and maybe checking out some of the new gamepass games like Carrion. Really though, I'm just waiting for September so we can get back to acceptable weather and because there's a chance that I'll get deeply into the Crystal Dynamics Avengers game.

I have managed to beat 3 lengthier games this month, so it was a fairly good month.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky Second Chapter - An excellent Jrpg. The extremely long buildup of the first game was thankfully worth it. The story did deliver.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky Third Chapter - A bit divorced from the other games, often feeling like it's just a collection of side stories and epilogues to the main games. What is there is still good, but a few important things were missing.

Total War: Warhammer - Really fun game, but I have somewhat mixed feelings about it. The grand battles are really entertaining, but everything that happens on the campaign map is often annoying, a slog and it just stresses me out somehow.

My favorite this month has to be the Trails in the Sky series. A real gem of a Jrpgs. Even if the first game was a bit too much setup and not enough action, and even if the third one was a bit tacked on and sometimes felt unnecessary. Even for the second game only, it was worth it, and it's not like the other two were bad, they were perfectly enjoyable too.

I beat just one game in July, which is Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition (122h). It's a really good game, probably even in the top ten of my favourite games. The only thing left now is the Future Connected DLC, which I've started with today. I will write a review the next few days, if I find the time.

11 - Shining Force 3 (Scenario 1)
13 - Sniper Elite: Nazi Zombie Army
18 - Space Siege

Another low completion month. The start and end of the month were bookended by campaigns in Heroes 6.

The Best - Really tough to choose. Probably Shining Force 3. It's the most expansive and impressive of them this month but only by a small margin. Inherits a lot of problems by not altering its core gameplay much. Many of the battles can be annoyingly gimmicky. But it's still fairly enjoyable.

The Worst - None of them are bad.

The Rest - Nazi Zombie Army is cool. Unfortunately designed as a coop game so it loses some appeal when played solo, but it's a pretty neat little "casual" spin off from Sniper Elite V2. Space Siege is pretty basic, but also fairly satisfying.

Good month this time. Despite going away for the last week I managed four completions this month.

9th July - Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts
14th July - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition
19th July - S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl
22nd July - Crysis: Warhead

BEST - S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Despite it's problems it is an immense game. An amazing atmosphere, a journey and goal that evolves at your pace and a world to be lost in.

Worst - Lost Planet. It's basically nine boss fights in a row. V short levels. It's not a bad game, just very average.

In fairness CoH and Crysis were both excellent. Both are stand alone expansions, not that that counts against them, in fact playing Opposing Fronts was so enjoyable it made me remember just how good CoH was.

I haven't posted one of these in awhile.

Dungeon Travelers 2: The Royal Library and the Monster Seal - 8/10
Biolab Wars - 5/10
Sayonara Wild Hearts - 6/10
Strange Brigade - 8/10
Ni No Kuni 2 - 6/10
The Shadow (snes - protoype) - 5/10
Cathedral(2019) - 8/10
The Procession to Calvary - 5/10
Nights of Azure 2 - 7/10
The Turing Test - 7/10

The Best:
Cathedral(2019) was a big surprise. A 2d pixel art metroidvania that I'd never heard anyone talking about. This is currently my favorite genre and this was one of the better ones. Dungeon Travelers 2, I enjoyed it, but boy was it long (60h). And apparently the post game is even longer. I'll come back to it someday, maybe...

The Worst:
Biggest disappointment was Ni no Kuni 2. The game was so incredibly dull I had to force myself to finish it. I thought the first one was good, if they fixed the combat. This one is just a boring plot with brainless combat. Also Procession to Cavalry looked to be a Monty Python-esque point and click adventure. But it was incredibly short and just not that funny.

Interesting to see your Ni No Kuni 2 and Nights of Azure 2 ratings. I'm just saying that because I had the complete opposite feel between both games, as NoA 2 was the one I struggled to complete. 😂

I thought NoA2 was worse than the first one, mostly due to the time limits. But then once I got to new game+ and the time limit was removed, I decided it was about as good as the first one. They're both pretty average 7/10 games to me.

Not a whole lot of gaming from me this month. The first half of the month I basically didn't touch any games cause I was deep in film editing for a movie I directed. Highly enjoyed the games I did play, though. Also going to use the linking blog entries idea, very clever!

21 - Professor Layton and the Curious Village (NDS) 8/10 - Review
25 - Pyre (PS4) 9/10 - Review

Both games were a good time. Looking forward to playing more DS games this month.

Just one completion for this month, been taking a longer holiday recently away from home. This one took a long time though, I grinded like never before in a JRPG.

16/06

Final Fantasy II (Emulated) - 6/10

I finally completed some game this month:

Completed:
The Witcher - Actually a replay but i played it a different way now, still good
South Park: The Stick Of Truth - Was in my backlog awhile and finally able to play it
Sentinels Of The Multiverse - Not fully competed but played all maps and against all bosses without buying DLC.
Story Of A Cube - On some ocasion i was like "haaaah"
Highschool Romance - Probably got this from a bundle or something.
Two Worlds: Epic Edition - A game i like and might play again in the future.
Barrow Hill: Curse Of The Ancient Circle - I have to say, i actually liked this ones, the puzzles where not that hard( only downside is you just have to go and do your things no direction is given)
The Lego Movie Videogame - Another game i liked, the story is not that bad either (but it's lego so offcourse it's a little weird)
Velvet Assassin - Apart from the shadow bugs and the disguises not working correctly i liked the game.
Dungeon Of The Endless - In begining a little search work but then i enjoyed it

Currently Still Playing:
Journey To The Center Of The Earth - Still can't get myself to finish this
Anti Squad - enjoyable but thongs cost too much
God Eater: Ressurection - I like this game a bit, a little too much information at once in the begining but after awhile you get the hang of it

My only real gripe with this game is the way AI reacts, it's as if they always know your exact position, even in the dark. But as the case with many stealth-based games, it too can be abused and fucked around with, which can be entertaining. Surely an underrated game made by a small German studio and one without competition other than Death to Spies, but that's more of a Hitman copy.
