Title: 18 Wheeler: American Pro Trucker

Date Started: November 5, 2024
Date Finished: November 5, 2024

Playtime: 1 Hour 10 Minutes

Recommend?: No

Thoughts: A game that, truth be told, one might not rush to play—even if it were the last adventure left in an arcade! Not that it’s terrible, mind you; speeding in an 18-wheeler brings a certain thrill, and the mechanics hold their own well enough. Yet, beyond the novelty of sharing a few laughs with friends, it offers little to enchant the senses. One could complete its journey swiftly and move on, unless, perhaps, you possess a peculiar fondness for massive wagons.

*Now, perhaps with a good pipe and a mug of ale, this game might bring a bit more cheer!

Title: All-Star Baseball 2002

Date Started: November 5, 2024
Date Finished: November 5, 2024

Playtime: 5 Hours 26 Minutes

Recommend?: No

Thoughts: This game, well-designed with a wealth of settings and customizations, offers a thorough experience for those inclined toward sport. Now, the controls proved a challenge for these old hands—not surprising, as I’ve yet to wield a proper sports game upon the GameCube before. Truth be told, I can’t say I became its biggest fan. The matches seemed to stretch on into eternity, though perhaps that's just the nature of it. Oddly enough, a real game of baseball feels quicker than these virtual innings.

Title: Ultimate Fighting Championship: Throwdown

Date Started: November 6, 2024
Date Finished: November 6, 2024

Playtime: 1 Hour 57 Minutes

Recommend?: Yes

Thoughts: A fine game for some lighthearted mayhem! Stepping into the ring with those old UFC champions—mere babes to one of my years—brings a touch of nostalgia. There’s a hint of customization and variety in the career mode, which is a nice addition. The controls glide as smoothly as a well-cast spell, though the true magic shines when battling alongside friends. A grand way to relive the thrill of combat!

Title: Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee

Date Started: November 8, 2024
Date Finished: November 8, 2024

Playtime: 1 Hour 12 Minutes

Recommend?: Sure

Thoughts: A delightful little romp! The roster of characters is splendid, and it may even inspire this old wizard to revisit the Godzilla tales from start to finish. The controls could be a tad more responsive—felt as sluggish as a spell miscast—but the charm and mayhem still make it a worthy diversion!

Title: Super Monkey Ball

Date Started: November 8, 2024
Date Finished: November 8, 2024

Playtime: 19 Minutes

Recommend?: Yes

Thoughts: A solid game, no doubt, though it truly shines when pitted against friends in spirited rivalry. I breezed through the first 13 stages in mere minutes, only to be met with an 8-minute cascade of credits—a touch amusing for such a swift conquest! A simple feat to complete in full, should one feel so inclined. Worthy of a quick spell for a bit of competitive delight!

Title: Samurai Jack: The Shadow of Aku

Date Started: November 17, 2024
Date Finished: November 18, 2024

Playtime: 5 Hours 14 Minutes

Recommend?: Yes

Thoughts: An alright venture, this one. The fighting, the artful combos, and that slow-motion ability were entertaining spells to wield, and the cutscenes brought a smile to this old wizard’s face. The Scotsman, though—ah, what a true delight! Yet, the journey grew repetitive, and I confess I abandoned the noble quest of ‘saving the people,’ as the small, overplayed cutscene wore on my patience. Extras were sparse, leaving little to draw me back for another playthrough. A one-and-done adventure, but not without its moments of charm.

Title: BeyBlade VForce: Super Tournament Battle

Date Started: November 18, 2024
Date Finished: November 18, 2024

Playtime: 55 Minutes

Recommend?: No

Thoughts: A quaint and simple diversion, best enjoyed with friends for a round or two to rekindle memories of yesteryears. The controls are as straightforward as can be—likely because there’s naught much to control. You move, you spam B, and repeat. Alas, this simplicity is marred by the wearisome cutscene that plays each time you wield your ‘special move.’ A fleeting experience, more for a quick nostalgic chuckle than any grand spellbinding adventure.

Title: Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour

Date Started: November 18, 2024
Date Finished: November 19, 2024

Playtime: 2 Hours 52

Recommend?: Yes

Thoughts: A delightful game, brimming with options! The variety of modes and characters ensures there’s something for every adventurer. The classic 18 holes stand out as the finest challenge, and the slot machine mode adds a unique and thoroughly enjoyable twist to the mix. The other modes are equally entertaining, with fluid controls making the experience all the more enchanting. Whether played alone or with companions, this game offers hours of magical gameplay to savor.

Title: Ultimate Spider-Man

Date Started: November 19, 2024
Date Finished: November 19, 2024

Playtime: 4 Hours 33 Minutes

Recommend?: Yes!

Thoughts: A truly marvelous game, deserving of high praise! The dialogue had me chuckling like an apprentice recalling his first miscast spell, and the joy of swinging through the city was nothing short of exhilarating. Playing as Venom added a deliciously dark twist, and the combat was as engaging as a wizard’s duel. Remarkably, this game holds up splendidly, even by today’s lofty standards, offering ample material for multiple playthroughs. The only blemish is the lack of mission variety, though such was the way of that era. A gem worth revisiting time and again.

The fighting mechanics are simple yet satisfying, with a vast array of characters to choose from, each boasting unique styles and special moves. This game shines brightest in the company of friends, perfect for a grand tournament filled with mirth and rivalry. Thoughts: Delightful little adventure—short, sweet, and to the point! The gameplay was as smooth as casting a well-practiced spell, with no unnecessary complexities to hinder the fun.
