i love this game so much :) it's been a big favourite of mine since i saw my dad playing it when i was 7 years old. i could never get past the ropeburn chapter until i was maybe 14/15 though it was really funny, but i'd still replay this game over and over, get to the part in ropeburn's office, and then get stuck n quit again :")))LOOOOOOVE the soundtrack for this game, i listen to it way too often it is way too good, just an incredible game i love u dice
i could not tell u when i played this game for the first time i don't even have the xbox account i had when i played it for the first time anymore, the earliest achievement i have on One of my old accounts is 08-07-2012 but i know damn well that wasn't the first time

This was the game from my early gaming days when the tech was new, and I couldn't run it on my desktop. After a long wait, I finally gave this game a try in 2024. Runs buttery smooth but still the PhysX runs awful. Overall, the story is straight forward. Game still looks beautiful. I have never played such parkour game. This is a unique style by EA in its glorious days when things were great from EA. I was so happy to finally be able to beat this game.Updated 2 Weeks Ago

TOP FUN THINGS TO DO:
⭐️ The risky jumps.
⭐️ Constantly being on the run from the blues.
THE UNIQUES:
💎 One of the first Parkour games.
PLAYER GAMING REQUIREMENTS:
💼 Parkour.
💼 Puzzle.
💼 Action.
PROS:
+ The parkour is still one of the best out there.
+ Origin isn't required to play!
+ Constantly feeling like you're on the run.
CONS:
- Game crashes when you alt out.
- Some areas left me frustrated in what I had to do.
- Combat isn't the best.
VERDICT:
Back when EA wasn't a corrupt company, man I miss those days, DICE is another one who sold their souls the the devil, If they went beck to their roots, i'm sure they would find purpose in their games again. Or perhaps they're happy to constantly take peoples money, even if I do dislike what they represent. They made good games back in the 2000's.
Total Score = 75/100.
GAMEPLAY:
Set in a near-future city, it follows the story of Faith Connors, an underground parkour courier who transmits messages while evading government surveillance. To progress through the game, the player must control Faith from a first-person perspective and complete a series of levels that involve performing a sequence of acrobatic manoeuvres, including jumping between rooftops, running across walls, and sliding down zip lines.

Mirror's Edge is a one-of-a-kind game, truly ahead of its time when it first launched. Its minimalist, sleek aesthetic makes it instantly recognizable, creating a unique visual identity that stands out even today. The ambient music during exploration is beautifully crafted and enhances the overall atmosphere, making the quieter moments feel serene. While the gameplay is generally solid, there are occasional bugs and certain missions can feel frustrating due to the frequent retries (breaking some immersion). Despite these flaws, Mirror's Edge remains an iconic experience for its innovative approach and design.

Mirror's Edge has some really solid parkour for its time, and the story is decent enough to keep you engaged. The free-running mechanics were definitely ahead of their time, making the game stand out. However, the combat could have been much better—it doesn’t feel as fluid or polished as the parkour, which makes it frustrating at times. Still, it’s worth checking out for the parkour and unique style.Updated 2 Months Ago

It's one of the best looking games ever but I still got tired of looking at the very similar environments after 5 hours. I feel similarly for the gameplay. I do like the multiple options it gives you while you're running. The story works enough to add context to gameplay but frankly it's not good. It's interesting people are so critical of the combat. You could interpret these things as the devs discouraging head on clashes and pushing you towards more creative solutions. I might've actually enjoyed it more if I played the time trials bit oh well.Updated 3.5 Months Ago

Innovative and fun gameplay in a refreshing atmosphere. This is a first-person action adventure game that has a platforming style to it. The platforming styles and techniques that you usually see in a 3rd person action game such as Prince of Persia and God of War can be found in Mirror's Edge in a first person's perspective. Wall jumping, wall running, jumping attack, take down movies, grabbing on ledges, and more are examples of such actions you could make.
The story takes place in a city somewhere. Life in the city used to be exciting and full of life, until a certain government was in control then things changed slowly. Some adjusted to the changes and lived with it. Other's such as Faith(main character), did not. Those that didn't were called runners, which were to be hunted and captured by the government. The runner's goal is to set things as they were in the past.
When this game was in the process of release, critics were sceptical about whether or not its style would work in a first-person perspective or would if fail. In my opinion, it worked wonderfully. The training stage at the beginning explains the basic actions Faith could make. After that, there are many situations where you can apply those techniques, such as combining them, into combat, evade and reach your destinations. The controls are very smooth. The difficulty is great, there are points where the enemies are right on your tail, and you really have to keep moving to survive. The game constantly forces you to make decisions fast when you are being chased which adds a very exciting tension to those parts of the game. There are also calmer parts of the game where you are trying to reach a destination, which requires observation skills and how to apply certain techniques to reach areas.
The graphics are beautiful. I've never felt such a vibrant and refreshing feeling from running around in the world of a game before. This game would actually make me just stand and look around at certain objects. For example, a steel pipe's reflection in the outdoors is so detailed and realistic. The colours of objects in rooms and the outside are very well chosen to fit into the atmosphere that the game gives the player. Sometimes you will be in a room that is blue and white only, or red and white. It sometimes gives the feeling I am in the architecture rooms in the matrix. Everything is simple yet sophisticated.
The replay value of this game is to go back and do the time trials of the stages you have cleared. You can connect online to compare your time trials with others online. There is no multiplayer or co-op mode unfortunately.

This game really feels like a tech demo. The mechanics rarely work, but when it does work, it's brilliant. Unfortunately this game is really unpolished, evidently the developers were more keen on making the graphics look spectacular which still holds up to this day. God, the combat is awful, it's meant to be played without any kind of offensive approach. I was really suprised how soon it ends, and the story really did not go anywhere, it was pretty weak too. I would love to see a remastered version, because it has a lot of potential.Updated 3.5 Months Ago

As one of the first parkour-centric first person games, it's admirable. When it works, it feels great - but all too often poor affordance makes jumps that seem fine fail, and by the end of the game it leans way too heavily on its poor combat system. Tack on a flat story and you've got a game that's kind of difficult to return to.Updated 4 Months Ago

Mirror's Edge is a 9/10 game in those rare moments when everything works as it should, but it happens in about 15% of the gameplay. Sometimes there are catastrophically awkward controls, sometimes terrible graphics, an incredibly predictable story and, the cherry on the cake, sometimes absurdly awful level design. Mirror's Edge either didn't have time to be finished, or it wasn't supposed to be finished due to the potentially inexperienced developers. In any case, the game turned out to be so-so, but because of the very short duration and the possibility to get some positive emotions, as I think, it deserves its honest 6/10Updated 4 Months Ago

I think this is a good game, but it's flaws are really clear and in the open. Starting with the good, the parkour and running feels really great. It's super satisfying to pull of these crazy jumps and stunts. My main problems with it lie in the combat, which is slow and more of a pain to deal with than any fun. Most enemies can kill you in like 3 shots which gets annoying, and there are a few times where it's unavoidable. The story wasn't too special, but I really loved the animated cutscenes. They were very stylized and looked really cool. I think that sharp style really fits well with the world of Mirror's Edge.Updated 4 Months Ago

This was a pretty innovative game back in 2009, although I played it a few years later. The visuals and parkour gameplay really appealed as something different to what I usually play and I wasn't disappointed. The adrenaline-pumping chase sequences really get the pulse rate up as you navigate your way across the skyscrapers of the city with your enemies not far behind.
I think the only thing that disappointed was the combat, but that's something that you need to avoid at all costs in any case, since your enemies have guns and you're a little fragile most of the time!

-74-Well... If you expect only a cool parkour runner, then you'll be surprised by how much combat this game has. Too much. And it doesn't feel good most of the time. The game has quite some ups (e.g. how cool and smooth the running can be and how fun it is, that it is pov, that it has some very creative sides and the change between cutscenes, gameplay and animation films is pretty cool etc) but also downs (unreactive controls in the movement, level design is pretty bad sometimes, very often very narrow passages, story quite unemotionally presented and animations a little clumsy sometimes). For the time it appeared I hugely appreciate it and lots of the things they did or try to do I also hugely appreciate but this game didn't really carry me emotionally or with its flow.

If you play this game, please play it on PC. I think my experience was a bit subpar due to playing it on Series X. It felt like there was a fair amount of unresponsiveness and input delay with the way the Series X handles backwards compatibility, so the game felt more frustrating than it needed to be at times. Some segments probably would've frustrating regardless (like that damned server room), but I'll cut it slack. I love Faith and I loved this game. It was a fun time and first-person parkour isn't really a thing you see often in gaming. Definitely recommend for those looking for a short, fast-paced experience.
I also played the game with a pacifist run even though I probably shouldn't have on a first playthrough, so there's that. It did feel satisfying to do though!

Very casual game, I found it very entertaining for playing one chapter per gaming session, the only bad things I found on the game were: some jumps where your character doesn’t hang or do strange things, also snipers were annoying, but I get it, that makes sense. Parkour feeling is great, very smooth, plenty of options for moving around and reaching your objective on certain parts of the game, even shortcuts. Fighting on the other hand is missing something, don’t know why but could be better. The parry window is very close and the fact that you can’t counter while hitting is a down point. Story development could be better, at the beginning I didn’t understand much about anything, from mid game and on it gets better, characters are ok.Updated 7.5 Months Ago

Pros:1) Music fits very well with the game
2) A game that can be completed in a few hours, within a day or 2.
3) With a game that is so short, they made the story very well.
4) Level design is very good.
5) The first First person parkour game of it's kind.
3) Replayable, will def play later on
Cons:
1) A few glitches where the character can't move in some places
2) City looks like a concept rather than beautiful. But I can see why it's intentional.
3) Adding gunplay to the game made it switch into another first person shooter. Did not need the gunplay. It needs to be seperate than every other POV shooter.
Conclusion:
A must play experience at least once.
