I wasn't aware that there was an English patch for this game. I've imported a couple PSP games from Japan that got English fan translations, namely Valkyria Chronicles 3 and Digimon Word Re:Digitize, and I may need to add this to their ranks. Thanks for the recommendation!

I played it last year and loved it! I'm really surprised it didn't get a US release. I guess the PSP was already dead over here by then.

Oh, there's an English patch? I'll have to add it to my list of fan translations to play. Thanks for the heads up! :)

Ys is a long-running Action RPG series by a Japanese company called Nihon Falcom. Other than sharing a protagonist and some other characters/elements, each game is a self-contained story.

From my experience there are two 'types' of main series Ys game: the newer ones (Ys Seven (PSP), Ys IV: Memories of Celceta (Vita), and the upcoming Ys VIII (Vita/PS4/Steam)) are modern 3D games which are more inviting to newcomers. All of the previous games (to my knowledge) are isometric and sprite-based, with some employing an auto-attack system and others having an attack button. I'm playing through Celceta now, and I would highly recommend that and/or Ys Seven to almost anyone.
