For DA at least, I think so. I loved the story and the characters, gosh dang that was a fun bunch of team members hah. Doesn't hurt to give 'er another go.
I was in the same boat with The Witcher but I'm glad I slogged through the combat 'til the end. :)

If you hate the combat, Dragon Age has some insufferably long sections that have far too much of it without much in the way of story or anything to break them up. It got me to quit the game and never look back.
I had a much better experience with KotOR back when I played it. On the other hand, KotOR2 plays very similarly (and has some even better character interaction and stuff), and playing that several years more recently I wasn't able to put up with the janky, dated combat.
There are some great things about the games, but if you actively dislike a major part of them that much it's going to be rough getting through them. If you're just kind of meh about it I could see it going better though.

If you don't find the games to be fun, don't force yourself to slog through them. If you're like me you've got plenty of backlog to get through, so why waste your time on a game that feels like a chore. There are plenty of wikis out there that can explain the entire story in detail. Save yourself the time and frustration... that's my vote.
Many games reflect the gaming culture of their time but don't necessarily age well. Both DA and Kotor are amazing examples of a genre that has largely disappeared from mainstream gaming in favor or more action oriented RPGs. DA 2 is a perfect example of that shift. In my opinion it's ok to play a bit of something to get the flavor and then walk away from it when you get bored.

I can't speak for Dragon Age, but for KotOR: I'd still recommend playing through the game. Most of the time the combat sections don't last too long/ can be completely avoided. The strength of the game was always in the dialogue choices anyway. However, if you really can't stand the combat, a Let's Play wouldn't replace actually playing it, but it would suffice. I should note that if you can find an LP where they make either all evil or all good choices that would be best. Bioware's titles always shine when you fully lean into the morality system.

If you find it "VERY boring" I would say stop and move on. However, how far are you in Dragon Age? I can't speak for KOTOR, but in RPGs with groups to command, you typically have very few abilities starting out, so there isn't much depth, therefor not much to "do" during combat. Mid-to-late game you're juggling tons of abilities, so there is a lot more to keep you involved. If you're at the very beginning, you may want to give it a chance, but if you're a decent ways in and still not liking it, just move on. Even though I really enjoyed the combat of DA:O, there are two sections that are infamous for how long and boring they are. One is the fade, which I didn't mind much, but a lot of people hated (enough that there are mods to remove it) and the second was the Dead Trenches. The Dead Trenches were so long and repetitive that I actually stopped playing the game for years, but eventually came back to finish (only to find out I was at the very end when I stopped). So if you aren't enjoying it before getting to those parts, I really really can't imagine it getting better when you do reach them.

I generally agree with this mindset. Why force yourself to play something you don't like?
Also, I always recommend choosing an easier mode if you want to enjoy the story of an RPG and just hate the gameplay. I know there's an easier mode in DA:O at least, though I'm not sure if that's the case for KOTOR... but to be honest I dropped the latter one because I hated the combat and I guess I built my character wrong so fighting was harder than it needed to be anyway >.>
