So hi, ask me anything as long as you keep it clean.
Here's some starting info:

I play a crapton of video games

As a maths teacher, I often have my kids ask me why I didn't become an accountant because "you could earn so much more money". Is it really as boring as I've heard?

13 Yrs♥F$✓#
lol, accounting can be boring at times, yes. The thing about accounting is though, it's not really all that math based. Yes, you gotta add and subtract numbers, but it's never anything mindbending or difficult... I don't think I've had to use anything post basic algebra in even any of my accounting classes, and at my job I have a super snazzy calculator to do any math Excel can't/freaks out while doing :p
Accounting is way less about math and more about organization--taking a bunch of seemingly unrelated numbers and putting them together in ways that make sense. I personally really like to do that and am good at it, but it's not something for everyone. For me, when I'm given free reign on how to present such information to my superiors (who are decidedly not accountants), and tweak spreadsheets at will, I have a ton of fun. But again... I'm a massive dork when it comes to Excel and making things look pretty in it.
But I kinda got lucky, as my job is making reports. There are other areas of accounting that are strictly boring data entry. My previous job, all I did was pay bills and cut checks. And my boss wouldn't let me fix the spreadsheets. I was immensely bored ._.
I'll admit I went into accounting at first solely for the paycheck and job availability, but I ended up liking it a lot :D But, the most important thing I think is finding a job you'll at least enjoy doing that will keep the bills paid. It may not be your absolute dream job, but the balance between being comfortable at home and not hating your job is the most important!
(Tangents FTW)
TL;DR - Sometimes. Depends on your job responsibilities.

What's your overall review of the Amiibo figures. Not having any myself, nor do I plan on it, they seem to me that they are somewhat of mediocre quality, as well as some of them have an annoying display stand on some of them such as Link and Captain Falcon. Comparing them with the Disney Infinity figures, which I do not have any of, the Disney figures seem like a considerable improvement in terms of quality....although all of this is irrelevant if you just use them for their gaming purposes, and not so much a display purpose, which seems to be the majority of the reason why people get these in the first place

13 Yrs♥F$✓#
Yeah, honestly, I buy most of them for display purposes, though I do use them in games when I can (like I got all the Amiibo characters in Fire Emblem Fates, for example). But I buy them more for the decoration than for actual usefullness, aside from the Splatoon amiibos.
You're right that the quality isn't top notch, but at the same time the Amiibos are pretty cheap--at $12.99 a piece, I think their quality matches the price. Also, there's definitely a case that some amiibos look better than others (usually the more 'cartoony' characters look better than the more realistic looking ones), probably due to the amount of detail some of the models use.
But I just see it as a cheap collectible that anyone can get and display easily. Are they of a high quality? No, but they're mostly easily available to those that would like a little figurine of their favorite Smash character or whoever. Also since Nintendo committed to making all Smash characters, a lot of collectibles of things we'd never see (older games) have made their way to people, and that's great too.
Of course there's always the alternative of buying a real figurine or Nendo or something else, but those are significantly more expensive.
Comparing them to other toys for games lines, Nintendo has a huge brand following and can sell these things without games to really go with them because of that, so that makes them better than the Skylanders toys already. I've never really looked into the Disney Infinity line... I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they were higher quality. Then again they aren't going for realistic or differing character models, either, and I think the cohesive-ness in the games' art style really works in their favor for creating figures.
Now I wonder how popular the Disney Infinity toys are. I wonder if people buy those for decoration, too? They look pretty neat and have a bunch of characters too...

Where can we find your reviews...? :P
And what are you studying at college?

How many amiibo is "socially damning?" :P

What your no.1 favorite game of all time.

13 Yrs♥F$✓#
While not all of them, I have an OpenCritic page which has a lot of my recent ones, for the two sites I wrote for most.
I don't write reviews very often anymore, I mainly just help RPGSite from time to time if they have more games to review than people to review them.
Also, I'm studying accounting. I need to get at least my Bachelor's if I want to become a CPA (which I haven't actually decided on yet)

13 Yrs♥F$✓#
I go with 20+ Amiibos. That's just too many!
Then again, I have 15 right now so I'm not too far from that goal, lol (though I usually forget to count my Yarn Yoshi Amiibo cuz he's in my office and just looks like a mini-plush)

13 Yrs♥F$✓#
Probably Super Mario World. I love that game and have replayed it many, many times--I just feel the game is pretty darn close to perfect, and with the 96 exits to find and a ton of stages to go through, it really was ambitious for its time. But, it's still completely playable today... something that not all retro games can do. It's just so much fun.
A very, very close second is Dragon Quest V, though. My favorite RPG by far, DQV has something most Dragon Quest games don't have--a deep plotline. Honestly, I'm amazed how many emotional moments are packed into the game, for a Dragon Quest 16-bit game. It's fantastic to play through.

11 Yrs♥✓#
So what is the difference between what you do now and a CPA? And (without being rude) how did you get your current accountancy position without degree-level qualifications in the field?
Also, following on from Eira's question, have you tried the DS remake of DQ V - and if so, thoughts?

11 Yrs♥✓#
I have like 70, does this explain my social awkwardness?

Are there even that many different Amiibos?

You could just keep studying accounting/finance forever like my dad did. Get your Bachelor's, then your MBA, then your PhD... He spent most of his time after that teaching it, but from time to time he put it to use other places when he needed a break from that. At that level you get to dick around with stuff like SAP too though, not just Excel. Heh.

Well, let's go down the list.
So far, there are fifty-six Super Smash Bros. amiibo, the main series. Then there's the Splatoon series (three figures); the Super Mario series (eight); the Yarn Yoshi series (four); the Super Mario Bros. 30th Anniversary series (two); the Skylanders/amiibo hybrids (four); and the Animal Crossing series (fifteen). There are also four standalone figures: Chibi-Robo, Shovel Knight, Wolf Link, and Gold Mega Man. (Of those, I have 56/56, 3/3, 4/8, 4/4, 2/2, 2/4, 5/15 and all the standalones, respectively, which means I own 80/96. I have a problem, please help me.) Then, there's eight that have yet to be released: one more in the Animal Crossing series, three more in the Smash Bros. series, and the new Kirby series of four figures.
So, altogether, there are 104 amiibo figures. Not to mention the 402 Animal Crossing card amiibo, which, nooooope. Oh, and the Shadow Mewtwo card included in Pokkén Tournament.

Yer that's a really fair opnion, those two games are very good. I've been thinking about getting into dragon quest recently since I haven't really gone into it yet (despite how much I love a good RPG) since it's not a good idea to start with the best game for a series what do you think is the best starting point I was thinking VI or VII since there both rpbeing completly remade for the 3DS.

I don't know what is crazier, the amount of Amiibos Nintendo has created or that you own most of them.
They do look nice though, I'm tempted to buy the Samus one and I don't even own a Nintendo console right now.

7 and 8 are being remade

Technically, there probably wouldn't be a difference in most work a CPA did compared to what I do now. It's just that a lot of higher level accounting jobs would prefer a CPA because it shows that you have enough knowledge to be 'trusted', since they have to strictly follow the GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Practices). For a public oriented accounting job, like perhaps taking care of multiple small businesses' accounting books or doing peoples' taxes, this is a must or you won't get any clients. For my position, and if I plan to stay with the state, most positions, it's just a nice piece of people a lot of them want just because.
I got my current position because I have an Associate's in the field, and am better at using Excel than apparently a lot of people that work in the division. Pretty sure the only reason I got the job is because I scored really well on the work sample, I dunno how I would have got it otherwise tbh >.>"""
The DS version of Dragon Quest V is the only one I've played, though I've looked at the Super Famicom version. I'd recommend the DS version over that because the fan translation of the original version looks a little dry... I really like how Square/Nintendo handled all the DQ remake localizations, honestly. If you can get that (or the mobile version even since it's mostly the same as the DS version), I'd say grab them. I dunno if DQV for the DS is still really high in price, though.

13 Yrs♥F$✓#
I dunno, I'm pretty socially awkward even with the lack of Amiibos <.<
@nalgas (not quoting since not technically a question) - Oh god, I don't think I can handle that. I'm sick of school now, getting my Master's and PhD, at least now, sounds like a nightmare lol
And I'm a terrible teacher.
@Eira - It's VII and VIII that are getting remade for the 3DS, and if I could recommend one of those two, definitely go with VIII. VIII is a pretty damn good Dragon Quest game too, but when I played the original version of VII I didn't like it much. Now, I did hear that a lot of the problems with the original PS1 version have been cleared up, but I can't recommend VII in good faith until I played the remake, honestly :p
