Not my favorite Zelda, but I quite love it. I had a lot of fun about the completion part, the game design is creative and enjoyable. Not everything is perfect, the HD version have a few minor bugs (the one with the armors in the Snowpeak's ruins and the specter that does not appear for exemple, just restarting the game fixes it but I get a little scared for my 100% playthrough). Finally, I knew before that Nintendo planned a TP Sequel that became later Crossbow Training but I wonder what the TP sequel would looked like if they haven't taken te CT road. Hope we have some enlightements in the future.

Pros: - Good music
- All dungeons in the game were pretty decent and were fun to solve.
- Puzzles actually require thought.
- Interesting story premise and plot.
- Story has good high points.
Cons:
- Too many dungeons (personal preference)
- Link's movement controls feel janky and a bit outdated.
- Couldn't really follow along with the story, but this may not matter to you.
- Can feel too linear.
- Little interaction with the world outside of dungeons (personal preference)
Summary:
Controls feel a bit outdated, and I personally feel there are too many dungeons. Dungeons felt like the main and only mode of interaction with the world, and dungeon items were pretty useless outside dungeons. In other words, felt a bit like developers telling you "this is how to play our game, only through dungeons".

Finally got around to replaying this via emulating the Wii U port on the Steam Deck. Fantastic experience that Nintendo has refused to deliver. The game is the pinnacle of this style of Zelda design (large, themed dungeons, slowly unlocking overworld, epic story). Maybe it was a tad too long, but I enjoyed it regardless.

It has been so long since I have played this game. I am glad I came back around to playing it. It really is unique in its tone and atmosphere compared to all of the other games. The darker elements are dope and not to overdone. I had mostly forgotten the plot but not the world and it was a ton of fun to dive back in. The story is very different that others and present all kinds of different settings and variations that did not make the game get to stale. The music is still one of the best scores of a game ever. The HD remake make the game look good the graphics don't hold as well as Wind Waker but they are still fun and sets itself apart from others. I will for sure come if ever gets re-released.Updated 3 Months Ago

A real sense of adventureGood
- this game gives you a real sense of adventure. After I finished it, and I recall the first hours I started it, it felt like I went on a huge journey, and became a hero who saved the world. Met so many people and visited so many different places
- the wolf gameplay was a lot of fun. It was different enough from link, while still being fun to use its abilities in the world and combat. Talking to other animals was amusing. Transforming into wolf form was also pretty fast and seamless.
- midna is the best side kick in all of zelda. She had so much personality, intriguing character growth, and back story. And it was awesome seeing the relationship develop between link and her. The ending actually made me slightly emotional when midna had to leave. And of course the part where midna was on the brink.
- the music is beautiful, as expected from a Zelda game. Midna's theme was amazing. Very emotional moment.
- the game wasn't afraid to be dark when it wanted to be, and when it also kept it lively and humorous when it needed to be to keep in the spirit of a zelda game
- the abilities that link learn are fun to use
- hyrule field was just big enough, and fast traveling made traversing it seamless. They nailed hub world and all the connecting areas. Really had a sense of variety and scale
- large variety of enemies.
- Dungeons were fun to get through. Each had unique puzzles and made good use of items. Also each had a unique theme which made them fresh.
Bad
- nothing

Until now its my favourite tLoZ together with BotW and TotKBut I still have a lot of games to play, so maybe this will change.
I just love the darkness and the more real looking look of the game. The characters also have more deepness then in other Zelda games.
Also really love the dungeons.

Forest temple is good and fun but as aspect edge basic and familiar as a first dungeon. The Goron caves were a step up. Had some interesting mechanics. The Lakebed Temple was great. Labyrinth that forced you to memorize and layered itself with rising water mechanic. The Shadow of the Colossus dungeon boss was fantastic. Arbiter's Grounds was fun, the first half a bit tedious with the ghosts. Boss was fantastic. Snowpeak ruins very atmospheric. The ball gimmick was interesting. Yeti wife/husband were cute. Temple of time was solid. Probably middle of pack for this game. City in the sky reminds me of Dark Souls 3 muted color palette of Archdragon Peak. Makes great use of verticality and has a use for every tool you've gained thus far. It does go on for too long. Palace of Twilight, aside from the boss, it wasn't very good. Hyrule Castle sucks. Fight hordes of enemies with bad combat like it's a crappy musou game. One issue I have is that it's always rewarding you with rupees but there's almost nothing to spend it on. Overworld was enjoyable. May seem a little empty but it was properly spaced out with secrets. This game felt like a real adventure with all the hardship, frustration and joy that comes with that. There are some fetch quests that feel like padding but it's easy to overlook.
I like the slow build up of the story/characters. I know some people have an issue with it. Really enjoy the world/community building that favors a slower pace. Zelda and Ganon play such a small role, I wonder if they should have just gone in a fresher direction. Like all of the stuff with Midna was terrific.
This is probably the Zelda with the best cinematography. There are so many scenes with fantastic music where I thought it really hitting a vibe that this series hasn't replicated.
It'd be great if they actually put work into this remaster. Make it a seamless world instead of loading screens every few minutes.

Oyun mekanikleri kendine has güzellikte.

[review in progress..

Twilight Princess is a simultaneously eerie and charming, fun and tedious, goofy and serious game with an expansive story, a wide range of gameplay gimmicks, some of the best dungeons in the series – 3d or otherwise – and with dark themes and a really good soundtrack to go along with it. There are several very small issues I have with the game that inadvertently led to it taking the longest up to this point to complete (along with there being an insane amount of optional collectibles), but for the time I played I would say I mostly enjoyed it.Updated 1 Year Ago

First time played it. Not my favorite Zelda, but it's good and I see now why people like it. A few things that bothered me were the controls, emptyish overworld, and linear dungeon designs. The controls were fine mostly, but what bothered me most are the small annoyances like horse riding, precise aiming, platforming, etc. It really built up the frustrations over time. It just felt tanky and sluggish in alot of moments. Mix awkward horse riding controls with a boring overworld and it left me wishing this game excluded the overworld altogether. I did some side stuff but rewards were lackluster or felt empty. They seriously needed to slow down with putting rupees in chests. For dungeons, overall the puzzles were great and fun. I just wanted more open, branching paths to allow more freedom to traverse in the dungeons. Before playing, a friend told me it's like "Ocarina of Time on steroids" and I can honestly see it. TP felt very similar in terms of progression, combat, music, etc; but with way more fidelity. Not really a bad thing since there were plenty of things to love, but it's still a funny comparison. The story was good overall except for Zant. He had so much potential to be a cooler villain, but he just ended up becoming a spoiled brat. However, it's redeemed with Midna being a fantastic companion character. Presentation was rock solid. Some people may not have dug the "edgy" art direction, but I liked it. The character designs in particular were questionably engrossing. Things like the Ooccas, the clowns, and...Malo were so weird yet I actually liked the uniqueness. And as mentioned before, the puzzles were mostly good. I happily got stumped on a few, but there were also other puzzles that were sullied by control difficulties. Bosses were easy to fight, but were still memorable in their own way (especially the Gerudo dungeon boss and the final stretch of the game). Lastly, whoever's idea it was to allow Link to pick up cats and puppies is my hero.

My thoughts on Twilight Princess are somewhat mixed. On one hand, I found the core gameplay to be enjoyable and diverse, with a well-designed map and a great selection of abilities and items. The game's music, atmosphere, and dungeons were also top-notch, as one would expect from a Zelda game. However, there were a few issues. The story was confusing and hard to follow. The controls were clunky and frustrating, and I often struggled with what to do next.
Even still i enjoyed Twilight Princess overall, even though I had a bit of a rough start. While the continuous fetch quests and some other typical Zelda game elements were a bit tiresome, the game's strengths more than made up for them.

This might be my favorite pre BoTW 3d Zelda. Solid dungeons, with the exception of, and I won't be the first or last person to say this, Lakebed temple. Mostly because of one room that really needs 3d spatial awareness and I am just not good with that. I was in there for an embarassing amount of time.I did some side stuff but I find it isn't worth the tedium most of the time. I liked that the grottos sometimes led to a maze with some enemies in them, but a lot of the chests off the beaten path just have rupees.

Better than I remember when first played on the Wii. Granted the lack of motion controls honestly helps. Also enjoyed the second screen making the map always available and easy to switch gear. While I enjoyed the majority of the game, I can see why Nintendo took a long time in making the follow up, Breath of the Wild. The overall Zelda formula that started with Ocarina of Time has gotten a bit stale, with Twilight Princess truly honing in on the experience. While many of the dungeons are large in scale, and I enjoyed the extra interaction with characters within them, they all felt too simple and linear. Yes, I know almost all Zelda dungeons are linear, there are a number of them that don't feel linear in nature, with more freedom and exploration required within the dungeons.

Extremely polished 3D Zelda formula with darker, more adult themes and beautiful (main) character design. I loved the increase in difficulty and adding new, distinct dungeon items aside from the staples. I think it did a good job of having a much more mature narrative and writing style and overall it had the most epic Zelda plot. What it lacked in world building was made up for with emotional investment in the main characters.Updated 3 Years Ago

This was my first Zelda game, which I played almost a decade ago and haven't returned to since. I bought the HD version and finally completed it again. This Zelda I feel sits in a weird place for some fans, but it has all of the confidence to be one of the games that defines what a Zelda game actually is. The game's dungeons are consistently the best in the franchise, and the items and mechanics are unique and never overstay their welcome. Nothing, actually, repeats for too long, even the Tears of Light early game quests, which were quicker than remembered, thanks to more patience and a reduce of scope on this HD port. The story struck me now as much as it did back then, elevating the franchise from typical fantasy fare, to a mature and human element of heroism. Link and the people you interface with are way more lively characters that have motivations and depth. Dark turns and tragedy plague the creatures of Hyrule, and much of this is not locked behind side content or am offhand line of dialogue, but front and center. Love, grief, loss, legacy, and responsibility are just a few of the broad strokes that Twilight Princess tackles, and does so with a strength unseen in some of the other story-heavy Zeldas. While the last few hours and post-game content are lackluster, TP helps fans new and old understand why Zelda is such a powerhouse in Nintendo's catalog. It's a really fun ride that deserves a play.Updated 3 Years Ago

Really enjoyed playing as wolf link, that was great. Game combat wasn't too challenging, although I still had moments where I struggled.Dungeons were fun some interesting items, just a shame they had little use in other dungeons/overworld
I enjoyed some of the side quests, although I had to look up a guide for getting the goron the special water.
the combos/sword skills were fun and not too bad to pull off.
Horse combat down right sucked tho. Took multiple tries just because Epina is not the easiest to control. Also Epona felt forced in this edition of Zelda. You don't get full access to her until late in the game and there's almost never a reason to use her.
Being able to port out of dungeons from any room, of you found ..the eh special item. Was great. I think itd have been better, if you didn't need to find it in each dungeon however. Thats a really good feature to have available.

More of the same Zelda formula, but with a bit of a twist. The ability to play as a puppy is always a nice little gimmick in a game, along with a mirrored shadow world to experience. The story is actually pretty good in this one, surrounded with a bit more mystery rather than a clear cut 'go rescue the princess' plot. But mostly follows the same steps as other Zelda games. Never the less, there is plenty of content to discover if you do a bit of exploring.
The game play is a little bit more fine tuned than the last few 3d predecessors, but clunky as always. Platforming in the 3d Zelda games suck, but the combat is as fun as ever, even when you get to be a dog.
The Wii U version (just like most Wii U games) does come with the added advantage of the screen on the controller. This made the game a lot more enjoyable as the player is given easy access to the maps and inventory screen. Really saves you from having to stop and start to equip an item or check your location.
Overall, there's a lot of fun to be had for Zelda fans, I've played every version and this one is the best. But might be a little slow for most action RPG enthusiasts. Thumbs up from here still

This is an amazing Zelda game. Holding the ocarina of time DNA on it's sleeve it creates a streamlined epic adventure. The core gameplay is basically the same with more advanced combat. The dungeons in this game are fantastic. They use the items given in them extremely well for puzzles and exploration. After BOTW this was really refreshing to go back to the old formula of dungeons. The world is huge with tons of secrets. The story is really well told with great cutscenes and imagery. The graphics look amazing on the Wii U version. Out of the five zelda games I've played, this one is the weakest. Wolf Link didn't feel natural and could easily be taken out of the game. The game's visuals were weak and can't hold up. The first quarter of the game was extremly slow and the ending could've been stronger story-wise. Though everything else... fantastic. The side quests were amazing. The dungeons were at its best. The boss battles, while easy, are fun and "epic", and finally, the story is great. Also, the small "filler" moments are by far some of the most memorable Zelda moments ever (i.e. bridge battle and horse back fighting). Overall, it's a game that I may not have liked as much as others, but completely understand why other's would like it. Solid 3/5 (Good Game)

Back in the day when this game came out, I was actively disliking it for being serious and dark, the fact that it was made for fans that didn't like Wind Waker bothered me a lot (since I loved that game), it felt like an unfair apology. In reality, I liked it more than I could admit at the time but in my teenage mind it was "far behind other Zeldas". 14 years later what started as a cleaning backlog game ended in a wonderful rediscovery journey.Twilight Princess presents a story more in lines like Majora's Mask or A Link to the Past, it is darker and it touches more serious themes than other Zeldas, is not that is a grim game but I liked quite a lot how they put stuff like revenge, inequality, privilege, etc., into it, they didn't go full-on with them but at least they question things that in other Zelda games where took for granted. I won't say that TP was ahead of its time however I can say that narratively is more in tune with our current discussions as in 2020.
One of the main differentiators from other Zelda games is its art direction, which I have mixed feelings with it, it goes pretty well with the dark atmosphere and tone of the game but some character designs or more specifically the 3d models and textures didn't translate that well, It's not that the art direction is that bad, but for every amazingly designed character like Midna (your companion in this game for those unfamiliar) you have a generic fantasy looking enemy, pretty hit or miss. Speaking of Midna, she's definitely a top tier character in the franchise, she really grew on me the more time I spend with her, plot and gameplaywise, the other characters are great too, some of them can be a little annoying at first, as the kids from the first village, but as the story unfolds, every single one of them have at least one good moment.
One thing worthy of note is that this HD remaster has Hero mode (hard mode) from the start, on which enemies do double damage and they don't drop hearts, I believe this is the definitive mode to play TP since the normal mode is extremely easy, and it gives an extra layer to the combat which is not that bad but is pretty basic. As for the gameplay and maybe the one thing that surprised me the most was the variability of everything, mechanics, boss fights, progression, etc. Unlike Wind Waker which is for better or worse a simple game in everything, in contrast, Twilight Princess is complex (for better or worse) in a lot of its mechanics, dungeons are massive and have exclusive mechanics alongside the item you acquire there, for instance in the first dungeon you will have the boomerang mechanic but also a second mechanic with some characters you'll find there, it adds a lot, the problem is that in some occasions this also translates as not so clear puzzles, poor navigation and backtracking and so on, but at least they try to make it more interesting.
Another great thing is the music and its sound design, most of the tunes have this dreamy feeling and are also memorable and catchy, they capture perfectly the tone of the game and yet they sound like they belong not only in the Zelda franchise but specifically in the TP universe, it might as well contain my favorite Zelda songs, remixed or original.
Speaking of rhythm, the game progression and the story have an incredible flow, the only instance on which I wasn't thrilled to play were those parts that you need to collect "light bugs" to free an area, they were annoying, not fun and at times unintuitive, they break my immersion a lot, at least you have to do this only 3 times so it's not that bad I think, other than this everything unfolds naturally and beautifully. It also has these interlude segments in-between dungeons on which you will be required to do certain things to advance the story, they're different, fun, and memorable, this kind of stuff is part of the Zelda series but here doesn't feel formulaic neither repetitive.
So what's not to like about this game? In summary not that much, my biggest problem might be the combat, it is dully simple even when the game tries to make the illusion that is complex via the skills you will learn but hardly use through the game, enemies don't require much strategy and on the other hand, the boss fights are fun and creative, they also have a second phase when things get a little mixed and add some challenge or variety to the fight, nevertheless, they're way too easy.
I wasn't expecting to revisit this game and liked it so much, even loving it, maybe graphically it didn't age that well like the timeless Wind Waker or even the divisive Skyward Sword, and it has some issues that in the great scheme of things are minuscule, but aside from that the game has a lot of heart, it's fun and rewarding, the story and its characters are memorable and if you're into collecting things this game has a lot of variety in that regard, if you're a veteran or a newcomer to the series please check it out.
