An excellent sequel by all means and blows the first game out of the water second to none. This series was beginning to find it's identity with this game, leaving the satirical elements of the first game behind in favor of a more epic story of war, cat and dog racism and two kings reclaiming their thrones. Put this as a novel on the fantasy shelf of any book store and it would sell like hotcakes. The game just feels better to play thanks to it's faster movement and new spells and weapons that make the game feel just much better to play. Instead of having to find the same pieces of weapons and armor to upgrade equipment, you can go and upgrade your weapons and armor, although I disliked that you had to go so far to do so for just weapons and armor alone. The gameplay in general has seen a boost in quality and managing two characters was a cakewalk and easy to learn. I made the dog more of a buff offensive character while I made the cat a defensive spellcaster who specialized in fire and lightning. Either way, you'll find lots to enjoy in the customization and there's plenty of weapons and armor to make specific classes for. Spellcasting and melee play is much more smoother and building up your characters while dungeon crawling to get the next best loot made this an incredibly addictive game despite it's 6-7 Hour Length. You obviously don't want to stop playing because the new dungeons make for much better areas to explore and fight in. The problem in Cat Quest I is that dungeons felt redundant in the way they looked, but there is much more variety thanks to the addition of the new dog continent you can go towards in this game.It just feels so much smoother, so much nicer and the design of the game with it's side quests and progression is much better than Cat Quest I especially if you're wanting to 100% (I tried to, but I thought it wasn't worth my time) so there's really no need for grinding constantly if you want to see everything in the game. The music has also seen an upgrade and this time these new and redone themes for the franchise work marvelously and continue to keep their epic adventurous tone. Graphics also have seen a step up, with many of NPCs looking more interesting and distinct compared to the first game. Returning characters like Kit Cat also share much better design and the art style looks much more in line with a full on computer game than the first one did with it's mobile roots. Even though the story is more grandiose, that doesn't mean there isn't humor. Plenty of cat and dog puns await and there's always a funny moment or two to lighten the mood during the side quests to lighten the mood after big events.
For me though, you gotta play this for the story. There's a gigantic twist at the end of the second act that blew my mind and the overall main story is exciting, charming and oftentimes hit emotional beats I never thought was possible for a series like this. The Side Content is also just as well written, with much of the humor coming from that alone. The more you progress through the story the more you feel the victories and losses of what the characters go through. It deals with social issues much better than some other media targeted at a younger demographic without being jarring or pretentious thanks to it's high fantasy setting.
There's so much to like about this sequel. The only real gripes I had is the Royal Arts exclusive enemies that can take years to kill in some side quests early on, not to mention Kirry is nowhere near as good of a character as Spirry, who constantly commented on the events happening in the previous game and I do honestly think it's parallel universe/multiverse twist is tired, but that's probably not the game's fault considering this came before that trend started to run rampant in media and still, the only thing I find this trope worked with is in the newer Serious Sam games because it makes sense for it to happen.
Either Way, this is a marvelous sequel that really improves upon everything the first game did while crafting an identity of it's own. I'm certainly excited to play Cat Quest III.

Bigger and a bit more developed that the first one, but less addicting in the first half. Having two characters to build was a little awkward in the beginning, but ended up being a strength when they each had their advantage in battle (+ ability to revive). In general, I'm not a big fan of the golden chests that you can't open until pretty much post-game (same as first game).Updated 1.5 Months Ago

More of the same from the Gentlebros, which is no bad thing. More cats, more weapons, more quests, more dungeons and then a sprinkling of added dogs for good measure. If you enjoyed the first Cat Quest game, you will love this.Updated 1.5 Months Ago

Updated 2 Months Ago

Lovely game. Excellent to play together with someone who doesn't game that much. We had a great time and have the game 100% complete. We did this without using a guide (just looked something up twice). Graphically a nice style, sometimes funny wordplay and great gameplay in co-up.One was always the healer/ranged dps. The other switched between melee and ranged dps when needed. At the end we had two lv 150 and one lv 200 cave left. It is not necessary to grind your character to this level. You can beat these at lower level. We did this between lv 112 and 114. The magic spell 'Gravi-ruff' was very useful for 2 of these caves.
We are looking forward to the release of cat quest 3!

A great game and a good continuum. Grew a bit tired to the constant questing, killing, grinding and so on, so took occasional break from the game.
The game givens a bit of more gameplay and depth to the Gentlebros "Cat Quest"-series, so worth a shot.
Played only mainly for the main quest line.

A fun action RPG and expansion of the original cat quest 1. There isn't too much different however with swappable characters it allows the game much more creative freedom in how you build two characters to compliment each other (For example a caster and a melee.) The game is fairly easy if you keep up with gear and build sets and explore. I imagine the game can be harder if you rush to the end.Updated 4 Months Ago

It's basically the first Cat Quest, but 2 players! Story/Characters
You play as the main cat & dog, trying to prevent war between your countries (respectively taken over by Lionel and Wolfen) - eventually you find that Kirry has kidnapped the two mains from another timeline and are actually Lionel and Wolfen from that timeline - kidnapped and brought here to fight Aelius with the newly forged Kingsblade. In the interm, the heroes have to defeat Lionel and Wolfen from this timeline to avert war, and eventually slay Aelius.
Gameplay (controls, battles, menus, worldmap/navigation)
Very similar, but now with ranged weapons and 2 players. Instantly better - more interesting tactics and "party" combinations.
Music/SFX/Voice acting
Very similar so of course still very good.
Graphics
Same as for music.
Difficulty
Some slightly tougher end game content, but the quests do pile experience on you so you don't have to grind at all really.
Customization/sidequests/end game content/replay value
LOTS of sidequests, gear and dungeons to find and explore. Even after you 100% the trophies, there is an Infinity Tower (which is really 20 levels)
Is it fun to play? Grindy?
Very fun, more fun I would say due to multiplayer and some diversity in gameplay.
OVERALL RATING
Had a blast playing this with my SO (and some fighting after dying to that 3 dragon dungeon a few times, and the killer hedgehog haha). Play it! Fun solo, even better with a teammate.

I've not played Cat Quest I yet but II is a fun little game. I like the fact that you can play co-op and that you can build your character in the way that you'd like. I was a strong tank and my co-op partner is crime a mage build/healer.The story is short and sweet and it's fun to mark off all the different dungeons and the side quest. I wish there was a way to zoom out on the world map though for an easier way to find all dungeons.
Cute little game. Recommend it for the co-op partnership.

Basically Cat Quest I with a Co-op mode : sweet but redundant. I can't believe the average time is 7+ for the main story. The game is SO EASY, especially on solo mode (the AI is way too tough, you could literally do nothing but watching it having the job done). Nice game anyway.Updated 8.5 Months Ago

Mega tolles Spiel. Ich freue mich auf Teil 3!!!

Cat's Quest II offers a great experience, building upon the success of its predecessor while introducing some new elements and giving a more streamlined experience. The game provides an enjoyable gameplay loop with plenty of engaging quests and rewards. It's a great formula made by people who love gaming and I can highly recommend it. If you liked CQI, you'll feel right at home. I do feel that the next CQ game should offer some more deeper elements to keep the formula fresh.Updated 1 Year Ago

Very cute and simple game. It's definitely better than the first game, but other than the added companion and new story it's still very much same basic adventure game. Which is fine because that's what I wanted. However, having the added dog partner where you can freely switch between classes mid-combat gives it another layer of gameplay that I liked. It still pretty much plays like the first game but there's plenty of new side quests and dungeons to explore. It's still cute, it's still fun, and it's still VERY punny.Updated 1 Year Ago

I loved the first Cat Quest. This felt inferior in most ways. I couldn't find the charm and humour that was in the first game, it just felt rehashed. And right from the start it kinda got to me that this wasn't a continuation of the first game, but rather a "parallell universe"-type of thing. It felt... stupid and unnecessary. I would recommend playing the first game instead of this one.Updated 1.5 Years Ago

Cat Quest 2 is basically a true successor of the first part. If you played Cat Quest 1 you absolutely know what will be up for you this time. The game builds upon the strengths of the first game and enhances it by small bits although the core is pretty much 99% the same. It is a very casual game with some cute story plots and for the price, especially on sales, it is a decent grab if you just want to go on a casual journey for around 6 to 14hrs depending on your playstyle.I will not go much into detail here. You run around as a duo of character which you can swap or play in coop. You will be able to equip both of those while venturing through the cats n dogs quests, cleansing the world of evil or helping out people. Combat is either ranged mage or melee styled. Styles can be swapped any time and the equipment features various specialization such as more life, more armor, resistances or certain damage classes such as critical damage, fire, lightning etc. Combat is simplified by rolling and attacking or using spells. Which is okay but its not very deep. The general game loop can definitely feel a bit monotaneous. So if you are not well paced on that end, better pick something else. If you can stand some basic game loops Cat Quest 2 can be very rewarding.
The game is very small so even for people with small bandwitdhs this is downloaded very fast. On my PS4 Pro SSD I had next to no loading times, no bugs, no framedrops, no bluscreens and/or crashes.
I grabbed it at a sale for 5 bucks. For that package I choose to pick 8 which seems high considering massive triple A titles. But the game is just plain simple fun for couple for hours and a nice price, so it seems fitting to me.
