This is a great little DLC to get into the mood for Control 2 which hopefully doesn't get released too far in the future.

We follow FBC agent Estevez who has been assigned to investigate the Lake House near Cauldron Lake where two scientists are running amok. To put it lightly.

Combat is simple, but difficult. I was often overwhelmed by enemies so I died more than once. The story is pretty standalone, but also part of a bigger story because it all ties in to Remedy's Control/Alan Wake universe.

I think it's worth playing if you're a fan of the series and if you're like me and you can't wait for more by Remedy.

Good DLC that didn't overstay its welcome. Really like how much it carried over to Control. Wasn't a big fan of the character but it didn't ruin anything. Final boss was a little frustrating and resources really upped the survival horror aspect of it.

Alan Wake II is one of my favorite games of all time. And this side adventure is solid crack at a small story with the Remedy polish. The setting and presentation is still elite and the writing is a little below my standard for them but well worth the short playthrough.

If you liked the main campaign of AW2, and FBC lore in general, you’ll most likely enjoy this DLC. It does a good job at setting a small bits of the stage for Control 2 (peep the teaser).

The aesthetic of the Lake House, per usual AW2 fashion, was superb, and it’s always my favorite part. It’s a pleasure just exploring the world in general. Sidenote: I really hope AW3/Control 2 explores a similar pacific northwest area with a Twin Peaks vibe. It just works.

I thought the puzzles were a tad too easy in this DLC. I usually am slightly dumb to such, but had no trouble here plowing through it without a train of thought.

The combat was fun, it’s the standard stuff from the main campaign, but with a twist of a new threat. The paint monsters were OK. I wish the Black Rock weapon was put to better use, I only was able to pull the trigger 2-3 times. It felt kinda meh adding it in when it was under utilized to that degree. Nonetheless, I still welcome the addition

Overall, solid, lore focused DLC. I hope Remedy keeps delivering, they’re a really neat studio.

Edit: I almost forgot to add; Poe’s “6 Deep Breaths” tune at sublevel 5 / end credits was a bop. I really dug this track.

Great DLC to an already great game - The Lake House was just more of what made AW2 already great. Some cool ties to Control here as well, and some hints as to what is to come with Control 2 in the next few years too. Overall a great companion piece to the base game, and definitely worth playing through if you have an opportunity.

Really good side story that brings together Alan Wake and Control worlds even tighter than before. But man, Remedy is just incapable of making boss fight that doesn't suck ass

This is a really nice condensed experience that ties into the main game. It's a very tight and short experience that doesn't overstay it's welcome. There is a good bit of Control in it and it really makes me want Control 2.

A tight experience that manages to capture the best of what Alan Wake 2 has to offer in a 3 hour experience. I loved reading notes, listening to audio logs and swimming in the atmosphere of the lake house. I also loved the story themes of Falling out of love in the name of success and why AI art will never have the same impact as regular art. Also the addition of having an FBC Gun with an insane rate of fire meant that the fighting of the taken was fierce and exciting. I will say though that the new enemies introduced feel broken and can easily sneak attack instant kill you from the walls. Also the final boss fell flat, not an annoying final boss just a very meh one.

Overall really good experience and I can't wait for what Remedy has in store for next. Weather that's the Max Payne remakes or Control 2.

This was an awesome send off for AW2. Creepy NEW atmosphere with a Control twist. Loved this! Once again the combat is the weakest part. The new slender man enemies rocked tho.

Overall a fun final romp in the Cauldron Lake wilderness, but not really cuz you’re in a lake house, but it’s really just an FBC facility, but not really cuz it’s all in Estevez’s head.

Just like all the other content from AW2, this DLC is very impressive visually. I did not enjoy the story as much as the first DLC, I was expecting more content, but I must say that it matches the level of beauty, immersion and craziness of the base game.

Fun fact: It took me around 3h40m to complete it and then I realized I had one missable trophy left.
So I started the DLC again with two accessibility options: infinite ammo and kill enemies with one shot.
It took me 20 minutes to reach the end section of the game, which shows how little content there is.

Of course, no one should play it like that, I was trophy hunting haha.
There is a lot of fun and immersion when going through all the game details and documents.
I did that in the first playthrough.

Alan Wake II: The Lake House brings a noticeable improvement in storytelling over the previous DLC. The atmosphere remains impressive, fully capturing the eerie vibe Alan Wake is known for.

However, it shares similar issues with its predecessor: it’s far too short, leaving much to be desired in terms of content.
The new enemy type, while intriguing at first, quickly becomes repetitive and fails to add to the encounters.
Additionally, the new weapon—though marketed as a fresh addition—falls flat, as it’s only effective against this new enemy type, limiting its overall impact.

While The Lake House is a solid addition atmosphere-wise, the lack of substantial content and engaging new mechanics prevents it from reaching its full potential.

More Alan Wake 2 goodness. Short, but sweet. I had hopes that this would expand more on the ending, but I still had a lot of fun. I'm really liking the Remedy-verse they're building by exploring more lore for Alan Wake and Control, and this DLC makes me even more excited for Control 2. There's just so many fine details and readings to find, and it's so satisfying to piece them together to form a clearer story. The gameplay is exactly the same, but so is the great atmosphere. Sound design, art direction, acting, and writing are still on point.

A sidenote: the audio mixing got weird at times where the music horns are so loud even when bringing the volume as low as possible.

This second DLC to AW2 is rather short, but it nicely captures the Control/FBC/Old House vibe. Definitely scary, definitely more survival horror than the Night Springs or even the original AW2. Too bad we didn't get more enemies and a bit more stuff to do in the Lake House. Teaser into Remedy's next big game was fun and I can't wait to see more of this crazy universe Sam Lake has cooked up for us in his mind.

Leaned more into Survival Horror for this DLC, but something feels missing. 75%
Pros:
Story and World building
Great Environmental Design and Atmosphere
OST
Live action content is always interesting

Mixed
Stingy with certain supplies, although you can outrun the new enemies
For some reason, her shotgun is the slowest thing on the planet and if you dodge wile reloading, she stops.
About 2 and a half hours of content, feels like it could have been 2 hours longer.

Cons
Laughed when i saw the new enemies, they look funny

A fantastic bookend to this chapter of Alan Wake's story that pulls in elements from Control that make those players who have been following along feel rewarded. The survival horror elements are cranked up to 11 as resources feel way more scarce, enemies are more aggressive, and jump scares more intense. It all comes together to fit in well with the base game's narrative, building on it and expanding the lore to encompass more of Remedy's titles and get me very excited for what's to come.

I have a strong feeling that The Lake House is not how Alan Wake 2 should have ended, especially after that cliffhanger. It was too short and detached from the main game. It was interesting to some degree, but it produced more questions with no answers again.

I really liked the original alan wake 2 and thought its first DLC, night springs was pretty good. I had heard some interesting rumors about this DLC, such as how it was gonna be open world and tie into the main game, and so I expected it to really expand upon the great ending of the original game. That is not what it does however, and while the story of this DLC is fine on its own, I really think the final piece of content for Alan wake 2 could've been a lot better. Due to its really short runtime, this DLC really kinda just has a self contained story, focusing on the FBC and a secret lake house organization. I think it does some interesting things, such as how bad people would use the lake to experiment, however beyond that it doesn't do much for me. On the gameplay side of things, you don't really do much shooting in this DLC. The new enemy type is fine, but nothing crazy. The new gun is good however you never really get any chance to use it. Overall, this was just a really average (and very short DLC) and is definitely not a must play, unless you really like the remedy connected universe I suppose.

If you liked the main game, this DLC is good, though not much better than the Night Springs DLC.

The gameplay isn't much removed from the base game. There is a single new weapon for which I felt the game did not afford you much ammo, and it is basically made for and shots must be exclusively saved for a single enemy type.

It has the great art direction, sound design, and general style you would expect in Control and Alan Wake 2, but the story is generally a lot more self-contained than I would have expected.

It also seems the scene from the trailer involving Control's Dylan Faden is an optional one, as I do not recall it at all from my playthrough.

I think the upgrade to the Deluxe Edition is worth it as a big fan of the base game, but I think as fine as both DLCs are, they are both still worse than most of the base game. I hope this means Remedy is really focusing on their multiplayer Control game and Control 2, because these DLCs don't really seem to me as much like meaningful additions to the overall Remedy Universe as the DLCs for Control were.

Like the previous DLC, my main issue with this DLC is it's short length. I thought as a standalone chapter it would be longer than the segmented what-if non-canon scenarios of Night Springs. Even if someone plays very slowly, I don't think they could spend more than 3 hours on Lake House. Compare this to Control, which had a short DLC at about 4 hours.

The Lake House DLC is another spectacular and spooky slice of Alan Wake II action. It introduces some fantastic new supporting characters to the Remedy Connected Universe, as well as a terrifying new enemy type to overcome and some wonderfully eerie environments to explore. The challenge of its puzzles may be light, but its combat is still chillingly dark even despite the fact it’s not hugely different from that of the main game, and scouring for the many notes, videos, and audio recordings littered throughout its fear-inducing facility made for a genuinely gripping investigation. Funny, frightening, and full of surprises, The Lake House DLC is a tightly paced slice of psychological horror that serves as an absorbing addendum to Alan Wake II.
