2020 is just around the corner and since this is the main challenge I give myself on this forum, I guess it was time to start thinking about my gaming targets for the year to come. Last year, I took all my completions from 2014 to 2018 which gave me a total of 1000 hours of gaming time. The average was therefore 200 hours per year. My list of games to play in 2019 was based on that. I've played a lot more than that which brought the average up a bit. The average of the past six years is now ~215 hours. I've noticed that the past three years have raised the average a lot. 2017-2018-2019 are giving me an average of 275 hours of gaming per year. That being said, I've decided to use 250 hours as my new goal. This is what I'm planning to do next year. It includes three games from the 2019 list that I haven't touched yet. Using HLTB average completion times, this should give me ~248 hours of gaming. The list is sorted by release date and my 2nd custom tab will be used for this.

Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake (1990-07-20) ~6.5 hours
StarTropics (1990-12-01) ~7 hours
Secret of Mana (1993-08-06) ~26.75 hours
Super Metroid (1994-03-19) ~8.5 hours
Chrono Trigger (1995-03-11) ~27.75 hours
Crash Bandicoot (1996-08-31) ~8 hours
Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! (1996-11-22) ~7.25 hours
Heart of Darkness (1998-07-31) ~5.5 hours
The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask (2000-04-27) ~28 hours
Sly 2: Band of Thieves (2004-09-14) ~16.75 hours
Prince of Persia: Warrior Within (2004-11-30) ~14.25 hours
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (2009-10-13) ~12 hours
Bayonetta (2009-10-29) ~13.5 hours
Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood (2010-11-16) ~25.5 hours
Batman: Arkham City (2011-10-18) ~20.5 hours
Assassin's Creed: Revelations (2011-11-15) ~20 hours

Of course, I'll most likely add games here and there with the Book Club which I participate from time to time, as well as interesting free games I might get or good bundles. But this is my official target for 2020. What's yours!? ;)

Edit: I will wait before updating my 2019 thread post since I might be able to add 2 or 3 games to the final list before the end of the year.

Dying Light 2 is all I'm looking forward to next year. I'm terrible at planning ahead when it comes to games as my mood is often the deciding factor, I know I made similar lists earlier but it never worked out.

Diablo III: Eternal Collection
Skyrim VR
Planescape Torment: Enhanced Edition
Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines
Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition
Alpha Protocol
Batman: Arkham Knight Premium Edition
Tyranny: Gold Edition
Jade Empire
Pillars of Eternity: Complete Edition
Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition
Pillars of Eternity 2 Ultimate Edition

HLTB estimates that all of these will take longer to beat than I have played all of 2019, which doesn't bode well for me! In terms of quantity, it's significantly fewer games than I've beaten all year. I think I'll need to play them on easy if I want to make any sort of progress.

I don't know what 2019 games I will play. Definitely not Cyberpunk or Dying Light 2, because I know they'll get a bunch of updates and DLC. Possibly Wasteland 3 and/or the Wasteland remaster. I can't think of anything else from 2018 or 2019 worth deviating from my plan for.

Upcoming 2020 titles:

- FF7 Remake
- Doom Eternal
- Dying Light 2
- Ghost of Tsushima (?)
- Darksiders Genesis

Maybe 2020´s:
- TLOU2

Possible backlog picks:
- RDR2 re-try
- Cat Quest II
- Jedi Fallen Order
- Nfs: Heat
- Shadow of the colussus remake
- Mutant year zero
- Civilization VI
- Dark Souls I Remaster

many more...

Next year, I'm going bigger. Bigger Games. Big RPGS. Big Action Games. Big FPS Games. Games that are lengthy in size. So I have compiled a list of what I do want to play. This like the 2019 list might be unrealistic but these are the games I'm going to try and get to next year:

Halo 4 (PC MCC Version)
Halo 5: Guardians (XB1) (Finish them up before Halo: Infinite)
Halo: Infinite (PC or Project Scarlett)
Baldurs Gate: Enhanced Edition (PC)
Divinity II: The Dragon Knight Saga (X360)
DOOM Eternal (PC)
Earth Defense Force: Iron Rain (PC Version)
Final Fantasy VII (Classic) (Switch)
Assassins Creed 2 (Ezio Collection) (PS4)
Batman: Arkham Asylum (Return to Arkham) (XB1)
Far Cry 2, 3 + Blood Dragon (X360)
Gears of War Series Coop (XB1 + Xbox Backwards Compatibility)
Borderlands 2, Pre-Sequel and 3 Local Coop (XB1)
Gravity Rush Remasted (PS4)
Kingdom Hearts Final Mix (1.5 Remix) (PS4)
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning + Expansions (Haven't Decided. Maybe X360 or PC?)
LEGO Batman: The Video Game (PC)
Need For Sped: Rivals (XB1)
Rayman 3 HD (X360)
Sacred 2: Fallen Angel (X360)
Saints Row 1 + 2 (X360)
Ryse: Son of Rome (XB1)
Zombie Army 4: Dead War (PC)
Sniper Elite 4 + DLCS (PC)
DMC: Devil May Cry + Vergil's Downfall (XB1)
Devil May Cry 5 (XB1)
Destiny 1 (If They Don't Shut Servers Off) (PS4)
Astral Chain (Switch)
Fable Anniversary (XB1 BC)
Fable II (XB1 BC)
Fable III (XB1 BC)
Doom 64 (PC)

Games I Might Play If They Come Out/If I Get A VR Headset:

Half-Life: Alyx (Oculus)
Forza Motorsport 8 (Project Scarlett)
Fable Remake/Reboot/4 Whatever (Project Scarlett)
Serious Sam 4: Planet Badass (PC)
The Artful Escape (XB1)

Main Goals:

So the big goal I have is to finish Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. I've been waiting to play this game for too long and now is the time to do it. New Decade. New Start. Baldurs Gate Enhanced Edition, Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, Divinity 2 The Dragon Knight Saga and Final Fantasy VII Classic are all the big games I really need to get to. I also really want to beat at least one game on the Assassins Creed Ezio Collection (Mainly Assassin's Creed 2) and finish the entire Gears of War series with my Sister. On my shorter lists, I need to finish Halo 4 and 5 before Halo: Infinite comes out at the end of the year. I'm planning on buying a Xbox Scarlett as soon as pre orders go up and hopefully Forza Motorsport 8 will be a game I can get to when Scarlett launches. I also need to finish Yakuza 0 as I'm 17 hours into it and still am barely done at Chapter 8.

I really hope the new year goes well for this. I think I planted very unrealistic expectations in my head but hey I can look back at this and see what I want to play next when the time comes.

I usually like to have some sort of gaming road map for the year ahead, so now is as good a time as any to put together one for 2020.

I'll probably have some leftovers from 2019 for January/February:

• Lego Harry Potter Years 5-7
• Star Ocean First Departure R

And that probably won't get me through to the release of Final Fantasy VII, so there is a definite question mark for February.

Games with known release dates will probably take up the remainder of the first half of the year.

• Final Fantasy VII Remake
• Cyberpunk 2077
• Trials of Mana
• The Last of Us II

The later half of 2020 is more of a question mark, though.
• Tales of Arise
• Gods and Monsters
• I'm certain that Nintendo has some big games planned for the later portion of the year that we know nothing about, and chances are good that I'll be playing them. So I always leave a little room for that. I'm VERY skeptical, but I've seen rumors that the sequel to Breath of the Wild could arrive in 2020, and that would almost certainly vault to the top of my list.
• If that Assassin's Greed game based upon Norse mythology comes to fruition, count me in for that.
• If it releases in 2020 and won't make my PC implode, I'd definitely play Halo: Infinite.

Yes! So did the sequel, Planescape Torment, Neverwinter Nights and Icewind Dale! I actually already own the PC Version of Baldur's Gate EE so that will be the version I play on unless the console version is superior by some weird reason.

Last time I failed to take new releases into account and 2020 is going to be crazy. I´m aiming for a more realistic list this time around. Fingers crossed that the world doesn´t end.
The only backlogged game I´m sure I´ll play next year is Watch dogs 2 before Legion gets released. For the time being I´ll only list the new releases I´m interested in.
Everything else depends on what games I can still finish in December.

New releases:

Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore

Kingdom Hearts III ReMIND (DLC)

Final Fantasy VII Remake

Persona 5 Royal

Vampire: The Masquerade - Coteries of New York

No Straight Roads

Cyberpunk 2077

Gods & Monsters

The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope

Tales of Arise

Watch Dogs Legion

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2

Ghost of Tsushima

Backlog Games:

I just noticed you play Xbox a lot and thought maybe you preferred console/gamepad. Xbox port is superior IMO because PC is keyboard/mouse only :)

And FWIW, if you're playing on PC, I highly recommend you play the classic version and install mods on top of that (namely one that lets you play in BG2's engine). Unlike PSTEE, NWNEE and IWDEE, BGEE changes a lot more than it should, adding in new out-of-place content, and it's generally a lot less pleasant to play BGEE because of bugs, interface issues and performance.

As per usual with me I have no idea if I'll follow my plan, but here are the games that at the moment I hope to play next year (Not including what I'm currently already playing).

Final Fantasy VII (Classic) (PS4)
Fire Emblem Fates: Revelations (3DS)
Another 2 playthroughs of Fire Emblem: Three Houses (Switch)
The Legend of Zelda: Links Awakening (Remake) (Switch)
The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks (Wii U unless I find an affordable DS copy)
Shadow of the Tomb Raider (PS4)
Borderlands 3 (PS4) - Will be playing with my brothers

I'm also going to want to play these when they release.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons (Switch)
The Last of Us Part II (PS4)
Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition (Switch)
Impostor Factory (PC)

At this point, Cyberpunk 2077 and Vampire Masquerade are the only two that I can safely say "for sure" because it seems more common that every time I expect to play certain games I end up losing interest shortly after playing them or with launch trailers.

Hey everyone,

I usually don't plan my gaming ahead much but just decide spontaneously what I feel like playing but I do have some general ideas about my gaming in 2020.

After a few months break from Danganronpa I'm excited to finally start Danganronpa Ultra Despair Girls. I planned it for this month but looks like I will only get to it in January.

Steins;gate series. I bought both Steins;gate games and got the Linear Bounded Phenogram for free with the others (whatever that is). I'm looking forward to see what the hype about Steins;gate is all about.

Going through the release list for 2020, I only see one game that is interesting to me (Pillars of Eternity 2) but I'm sure other amazing games will pop up on my radar during the year. Of course, if the successor to Hollow Knight would release next year, I would be all over it but I doubt it will come out so soon.

Also, I will probably get every DLC that might be released for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. I'm currently having a fun time with the game.

I hope some Hotline Miami-style game will come out for PS4 in 2020 (e.g. Katana Zero). I miss this type of game.

My plans are:

1. Keep working through my retro backlog - finish SNES, keep progressing through Arcade, start Sega Saturn
2. Get a PS4 cheap and play some of the best exclusives
3. Play Cyberpunk 2077 on PC, if my system can do it justice
4. Have fun

Here is my list for 2020. I decided to play my games slowly, because I felt like I was always rushing to finish at least one game or multiple during the months. I felt like I was rushing through the story's and not enjoying myself while playing. So I am doing a slow-a-thon for gaming of 2020. I may not finish my initial list but however many I finish is fine for me.

1. Alan Wake XBOX 1

2 Naughty Bear PS3

3. Dead Space 3 PS3

4. Dishonored PS3

5. Infamous PS3

6. Assassin's Creed 1 PS3

7. Dead Island PS3

8. The Haunted Mansion PS2

9. Okami HD PS4

10. One Piece World Seeker PS4

11. Ni No Kuni Remastered PS4

12. Costume Quest PS4/PS3

13. Alien Isolation PS3

Back in March, I started mostly only playing RPGs to finally try to get into the genre. It's going well. I figure I'll keep doing that for the first 3 months of 2020 an then switch over to point and click adventure games. They are both genres that I'll play one of those games, but only in spite of it being in that genre. I hope to be be to look at any game and understand it. Computer RPGs are proving to be the most difficult because of how complicated their systems are and how they tend to just throw you in.

Edit: I have revised my list, based on what I want to accomplish with my gaming this year. 1) I want to focus on Nintendo Switch and have this as my primary gaming console. I bought it january last year and have still a lot of games to get to, and I’m trying to follow the new releases too. 2) In regards to my PS4, I want to play a handful of titles which I really want to have experienced on that console, before I buy next gen’s console. 3) I have some titles on the PS3 that I want to play, which I never got to back in the day but really should’ve.

Apart from this I'm aiming for a more relaxed approach next year, spending more time with each game and taking my time exploring it. I also want to revisit or continue some games that I just played story mode on last year, and explore them further.

Anyway, here's what I want to play in 2020:

Nintendo franchises:
Animal Crossing: new horizons (this is the only new title with a release date that I know I will get on release day)
Super Smash Bros Ultimate (cont. from last year, classic mode, locking up stuff etc.)
Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (cont. from last year)
Super Mario Odyssey (cont. from last year, post story content+true ending)
Splatoon 2
Fire Emblem: three houses
Bayonetta
Bayonetta 2

Others on the Switch:
Ori and the blind forest
Untitled goose game
Hollow Knight: Silksong (if this releases in 2020 I will get it as soon as I can)

Playstation 4
Divinity: original sin
The Last of Us remastered
The Witcher 3: wild hunt

Playstation 3
Final Fantasy 13
Assassin's Creed

I'm really looking forward to Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Persona 5 Royal in March, and Cyberpunk 2077 in April. I'm also really hoping Act V of Kentucky Route Zero releases next year; even though it's been sitting in my Steam library for ages, I've held off on playing it until it was completed.

Other games without confirmed release dates that I'm anticipating: 12 Minutes, Carrion, Digimon Survive, Spiritfarer, Witchfire

I've slightly revised my 2020 list to focus on 3 issues: VR games, console-only* games and a few key classics I feel the need to experience sooner rather than later. I don't know if I'll ever be a big VR gamer, but I have the headset so I might as well play the couple games I already own, and can still use it if I play another PC game with VR support. I'm a bit disappointed in VR, but I think I got my money's worth, especially after I finish Skyrim. The console-only games are actually multi-platform games that don't have controller support on PC. It's not many, but there are a few I'm interested in and I want to play them before I can't.

Arcanum (Classic)
Diablo 3 (No gamepad support on PC)
Skyrim VR (VR)
Planescape: Torment (No gamepad support on PC)
Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines (Classic)
Pillars of Eternity (No gamepad support on PC)
Jade Empire (No gamepad support on PC)
Star Trek: Bridge Crew (VR)
Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition (No gamepad support on PC)
Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition (No gamepad support on PC)
Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire (No gamepad support on PC)

That's still a heavy-hitting list! But my hope is, once I cast off these few demons, I can try pulling a random game out of my backlog - or play newly-released games - and have more casual fun playing games instead of needing a spreadsheet to manage the games I play.

This is my final target list for 2020. It's almost identical to the first post in this thread except for one game. This is a much higher target (275 hours) than last year's target (200 hours). The main reason is that I ended up playing ~265 hours in 2019 (counting only completed games and DLCs). Another difference is game's length. In 2019, the average for the 31 games and 3 DLCs was 8 hours per title. In my list for 2020 I have much longer games. 16 hours in average. Anyway, this will be my starting point for the next year and I'm sure I'll deviate from it quite often, and this is totally fine! :)

Title (Original Release Date) Time to Beat (All PlayStyles average)

Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake (1990-07-20) ~6.5 hours
StarTropics (1990-12-01) ~7 hours
Final Fantasy IV (US Version) ~28 hours *CURRENTLY PLAYING*
Secret of Mana (1993-08-06) ~26.75 hours
Super Metroid (1994-03-19) ~8.5 hours
Chrono Trigger (1995-03-11) ~27.75 hours
Crash Bandicoot (1996-08-31) ~8 hours
Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! (1996-11-22) ~7.25 hours
Heart of Darkness (1998-07-31) ~5.5 hours
The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask (2000-04-27) ~28 hours
Sly 2: Band of Thieves (2004-09-14) ~16.75 hours
Prince of Persia: Warrior Within (2004-11-30) ~14.25 hours
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (2009-10-13) ~12 hours
Bayonetta (2009-10-29) ~13.5 hours
Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood (2010-11-16) ~25.5 hours
Batman: Arkham City (2011-10-18) ~20.5 hours
Assassin's Creed: Revelations (2011-11-15) ~20 hours

Total: ~275 hours - ~16 hours per game
