It has some new mechanics but it still is a generic reverse-bullet-hell game. This dev's games have a unique style of their own. It is not engaging, but it is a bit chaotic for me.Updated 1 Week Ago

Short, simple top-down twin stick bullet hell roguelike. If you like Binding of Isaac, Nuclear Throne, Vampire Survivors, etc., you'll probably like this. Tons of characters to unlock, but it gets easy and repetitive quickly. Took me a while to beat Danger 0 and 1, but like 1-2 tries each for Danger 2, 3, 4, and 5.Updated 4.5 Months Ago

Simple in design with lots of challenges. The value ceiling is very high for the amount of time and fun I’ve had with this game. Brotato kept me coming back until I did all of the achievements and it leaves more challenges beyond that.Updated 4.5 Months Ago

It's a fun little rougelike that's easy to pick up and play. I enjoy the fact that it's very simplified gameplay compared to a lot of other games in the genre that are a massive investment of time to understand the very core elements of the game. The amount of character options also gives a lot of unique approaches on how you build a character and what items are good or bad. It's a very chill game for the most part as well not requiring much in the way of mental energy. That being said it gets old very quickly if you're going at it with the intention of getting everything. Some characters are just miserable to play and almost everything about the presentation of the game is lackluster. Every stage is the exact same. There's a single droning EDM track. Every run is going to come out to being the same length no matter how good or bad it might be. Many times even if you have a bad run you'll be fine until the very end where you more often than not have a 50/50 chance of having the last 20-30 minutes thrown away by random nonsense instantly killing you. Even after 100% I'm still not sure what 90% of enemies even do seeing as they all look the exact same especially in the metric garbage load of things happening on screen.
Overall I think the game is a fun distraction now and again but would never recommend trying to go for the 100%. It just isn't fun. Maybe if the game ever expands on itself with more varied stages, music, and clearly defined enemies I can consider revisiting it, but as it stands it's hard to give the game any higher than a 6/10.

Great roguelike build experience. It's like one of the best building experience in the vampire-like genre. As a top-down shooter it feels ok.Updated 7 Months Ago

Cute little survival roguelike. Not as in-depth as I thought it would be. Short but great fun. Playing as every character is just a little twist, which becomes too much of a grind.Updated 8 Months Ago

(06.27.2023) As someone who liked Vampire Survivors very much, I was excited for this game. When I saw that the full version was released on Steam, I started playing it. These two games actually start out similarly. At the beginning of the game, mobs are going to literally penetrate you because you are very weak. After leveling up a bit and getting the right items, the game turns into a power fantasy. This time, you make them suffer. I had one thought while playing the game. I was having fun but VS was definitely more fun. For example, to die. When you die in a run after unlocking all characters, you cannot transfer anything to the other run. In VS, on the other hand, we can level up a random stat for the character you want with golden eggs after the run is over with the coins. Talking about characters, there are many potato guys in this game but mostly useless. Some of them are really OP compared to others. It applies for weapons too. You can select different weapons but why would you choose if there are some OP ones? There are different map textures but they're all the same. So, there is only one square map. Brotato is a nice game but it started to feel same after few runs. The first 8-10 hours will be very enjoyable depending on your "git gud" time, but after some time, all the weapons you choose and the builds you make will feel the same.

I didn't expect to go for 100% after months, but it happened. I tried all of the characters and the weapons. Some, but not all, were quite enjoyable. I finished the game many times on Danger 5 difficulty with all the characters while doing this. Even though I enjoyed it more than the first time, I still feel the same way.

I liked the game, it was interesting enough but for a game of this genre, I think it gets boring pretty fast. The weapons feel kinda samey, and the arena is really boring for me. I really wanted to like it more but in the end, couldn't.Updated 8.5 Months Ago

In conclusion, Brotato is a decent roguelite bullet hell game with numerous challenges. However, it falls short in terms of repetition, and adding more content would greatly enhance its overall appeal. I would rate the game a 7.5/10.Updated 10 Months Ago

It is a quite simple but funny roguelike following the remains of vampire survivors' success. It shines by its multiple weapon way to play it, and such game-breaking characters, varying to 12 weapons rather than basically 6 weapons or even pacifists that need to kill no one.
It is very funny and entertaining, I have now to see what mods can do to this game!

Updated 10 Months Ago

A solid and fun garlic-like with some cool ideas. I like the ability to stack as many items as you want, and I liked some of the creative character perks, but I also felt that the game could really benefit from a larger or more interesting map. However I was hooked by it's stat building mechanics, which often made me really think about which upgrades I wanted to go for as opposed to just purchasing everything to gain more power.Updated 1 Year Ago

A fun roguelike game. A very simple shooting game with a surprising amount of depth. Game has over 30 characters with their own unique quirks, making each gameplay session have different questions on which items and abilities to take. I began getting burnt out at the 30 hour mark but that’s because I played long sessions over multiple days. Game is addicting and only $5! There’s almost not better value in gaming.Updated 1 Year Ago

Here's the gist: You play a small white circle. You dodge waves of things. You can shoot and/or stab those things for money. Between waves you use money to buy upgrades. After 20 waves you finish the game. There's no plot. No secrets. No endings. No frills, no wrinkles. The 20 waves are nearly identical. What might keep you coming back is that there are ~30 characters you can unlock, each with modifiers that make you play them somewhat differently. There are also ~20 weapons and ~100 items, though very few are interesting.
Inferior to Vampire Survivors -- the game it's copying -- in every way, yet it's still entertaining. I'll admit I did a 100% completion, or pretty close to it, but only while looking for something better to play.
