This is disgusting. Way too gross and evil to be fun.

The atmosphere is done really well for a horror game. This game is creepy and scary.

Game play has been mostly running. Trying to find stupid weird items that for some reason open doors. This means running around the same rooms over and over trying to find something I missed. Most things that I have been able to shoot dont get hurt by bullets. Most all events seem to have only one solution and it normally is not fighting. The story is gross. It may hold your attention for a little bit, but the game play has been boring and monotonous.

I have played resident evil 2,4,8 and all of those games were much better than this one. Less evil and more fun gameplay.

Amazing game, just like RE2 this is a contender for my top five games of all times. RE2 wins in the gameplay aspect, but RE7 wins in the story, the characters and the atmosphere.

Billed as the "scariest" RE game, I found it mostly frustrating at first. Not a big fan of hide-and-seek stuff, after a few failures it tends to kill the tension for me. There are several moments where I died because I wasn't sure what the game wanted from me. Oh, you mean I'm NOT supposed to use the pistol you give me in the boss room on the boss? My mistake. Lots of scripted stuff gone wrong. After that section it gets less "scary" and better, but also a bit more conventional. The weird tar guys that make up the grunt enemies aren't as compelling as a zombie, but it's pretty fun. For me it's about on par for the series, not as good as the remakes but solid fun.

This is one of the greatest horror games I've ever played. The atmosphere is so tense and the setting truly looks disgusting. The only reason this isn't a 10/10 is that the game drags a little after we leave the Baker House. Also word of advice for anyone playing this for the first time: Don't save Zoe, you'll regret it immediately.

TOP 3 FUN THINGS TO DO:
⭐️Escaping the Bakers household.
⭐️Exploring the creepy outlet.
⭐️Killing the "mould".

THE UNIQUES:
💎Item management is back!
💎The backstory of the Bakers.

PLAYER GAMING REQUIREMENTS:
💼Horror.
💼First-Person.

VERDICT:
CAPCOM have gone back to what RE was all about, a freaking horror! I've always found First-Person horrors better as well, not knowing what's behind you and using only but your hearing makes everything 10x scarier. Not only have they brought the terror back into their game, they've managed to develop a great story with plenty of action to boot. It's hugely recommended to use headphones to add to the experience. The only downside is the game length but it's got enough to replay the game to not get bored.

The Bakers family are so ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up, and it's all thanks to one person in particular, and it'll surprise you who it actually is.
Total Score = 98/100.

GAMEPLAY:
A major instalment in the Resident Evil series, Resident Evil 7 diverges from the more action-oriented Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6, returning to the franchise's survival horror roots, emphasising exploration. The player controls Ethan Winters as he searches for his long-missing wife in a derelict plantation occupied by an infected family, solving puzzles and fighting enemies. It is the first main series game to use a first-person view.

Given the fact that Resident Evil 6 was one of the worst game I ever played, I never really bothered to take a look at the so-called glorious reboot of the franchise and probably wouldn't have at all without this website. I was wrong: Biohazard was an undeniable return to form. It has one of the strongest beginnings in the whole series with a creepy atmosphere, a true sensation of threat, and the obviously great idea to leave the RE lore alone to focus on something different (with the exception of a few welcome easter eggs). Bringing horror (terror!) back in Resident Evil can't be a subject of complain, and Capcom made it with an obvious - even sometimes impressive - savoir-faire.

That being said, this seventh mainline entry is far from perfect and more often tends towards a refreshing illusion of novelty than towards something truly new. First of all, the introduction of the first person view is far from the absolute change of paradigm offered in its time by RE4 and its TPS take. Besides amazing first hours and a brand new appeal for 'stalker survival' (a subgenre the franchise actually created in its second issue but never really explored), it's good old Resident Evil, with a lot of mechanics recycled from RE1-2 and the first person used as a coverall for simplistic riddles and fun but shallow boss fights. Then there's the terribly weak second half, both story and gameplay-wise, that feels totally unnecessary. Once again, you end up shooting things in linear corridors and the initial pledge sounds not only broken, just forgotten.

All in all, RE7 appears to be more of a beautiful package for a quite disappointing gift, already too long for what it has to offer when in fact pretty short, but like we say : it's the thought that counts. I will remember these first few hours and will remember that for the first time in a long while, Capcom at least tried to offer something enjoyable, even if uneven. I'm way more interested now in the later games or remakes and sure will play them soon.

+Successfully takes the Resident Evil franchise and transfer it into FPS
+The baker family does a great job of being a threat while chewing the scenery
+Series of puzzle rooms with different themes and threats
-Regular enemies are more of a nuisance then a threat
-Game can be too dark in places which prevent good explorations
-Lack any major scare in the game
Overview
Resident Evil 7 takes it’s franchise successfully into FPS and is able to do a few new things with the baker being a great overarching threat that hunts you throughout the corresponding level. Each with there own theme as well as series of unique puzzles for each of them which also can be used for there boss battles. The game though is limited in the scares and at least in a non VR play through rather tame for a horror game and it’s not helped by the standard enemies being more of a wobbly nuisance then a threat and are at times frustrating to deal with which is not helped by the game in places too dark to see anything in the environment.

Magnificent return of Resident Evil!
Indeed, horror has returned to its place, and this game is good!

Classic gameplay, but this time with a first-person perspective. It's an interesting take; it was really nice to see this after RE6. The game is scary, with a dense atmosphere; the weapons feel good, and overall, it’s a pleasure to play! And oh my god, Jack is awesome!

Perhaps there are things that really suck in this game, despite the fact that I like this game. I must say that the second half of the game is really so-so, not as bad as many people like to say, but still, there is also a small variety of enemies, and the worst thing is the lack of skipping cutscenes. It's really a big hit on replayability in a bad way, and that's despite the fact that the game already has a long intro where you basically just walk around.

But still, i liked this game. Especially the DLC's are really nice!

A great horror game starting out, but I felt a bit of the fun was lost about halfway through. I also played the VR version of this, and while I did feel immersed a bit, the quality wasn't great and the subtitles would run off-screen and often prevent me from reading the whole line. It's still a fantastic game though.

+ The entire Baker House chapters are good, with lots of fun gameplay.
+ Very, very good balanced distribution of items during the entire the game. It's also feels very rewarding to find new items in less obvious places.
+ Very effective and not-so-obvious jumpscares;
+ Atmosphere is quite cozy yet scary; attention to detail in every part;
+ Pretty good graphics for a 2017 game.

- After leaving the Bakers House, the later chapters becomes a bit too action-oriented, instead of continuing with the refined survival horror with the appropriate blend of survival horror and action.
- Final boss is a joke.
- For a Resident Evil game, puzzles are somewhat forgettable and uninspired.

Well, I beat this game for the second time today with my girlfriend. She liked the gameplay and was pretty scared by the horror sections. To be honest, even remembering some shit, I shivered in some moments too.

There's no more to talk about rn. The game is just memorable and the family is basically iconic. This moral reboot was responsible for the revival of its franchise and I'm grateful since I only played the previous ones cause of it.

Anyway, I totally recommend it.

Resident Evil returns to its survival horror roots.

I really didn't like the direction Resident Evil was going starting from RE5. It increasingly becoming an action game rather than survival horror, which RE1 was ALL about. But RE7 takes things back to the first page, and amps it up. The plot pulls you in right at the opening. You're going to look for your long lost wife, who has been missing for 3 years. You know some horrific things have happened, and the game lets you slowly unravel it.
The settings in the game contributes to a huge factor to the horror. The realism of the objects, environment, and lighting. It was all perfect. There were many places where I didn't even want to step foot in because it looked so creepy. Ammo conservation is actually important again. Not as strict as the PS1 Resident Evils, but you still had to look out for how much ammo you blow. I actually over conserved my ammo, and I had a crap ton by the end of the game.
The level design and gameplay progression was golden. It was clear what items you needed next, and markings on the map indicated what doors needed opening, so needless backtracking wasn't necessary. The VHS flash forward system was also really cool. You play through the memories of people who have visited the house. These give you clues as to where items were located. It was a clever addition.
Overall, the entire experience kept me at the edge of my seat. I'm really happy the series brought back it's survival horror roots. I hope Resident Evil keeps going in this direction.

While this game didn't thrill me as much as Outlast did, it did provide me with a good challenge and gave me some genuinely scary moments. I played through this on PC with VorpX to get a VR experience out of it, and it scared me poopless in some moments.
One thing that this game does well is remembering its roots as a game where you fight back against the enemies, rather than just run from them (like Outlast). This makes basic enemies, rare as they are, frightening and intimidating, because ammo is scarce enough that an encounter could put you in a bad situation down the line, and if your shots aren't accurate it's a waste of bullets. The bosses are particularly good!
Overall this did RE well and made a very good horror experience.

Very Good Horror Game until you leave the becker's and arguably still a good one after despite the fact that it kind of brake the momentum built this far for the sake of exposition, lot of tension and pressure due to visual and sound-design supported by the first person perspective reinforcing immersion, gameplay-wise the metroid-lite feel of RE is always appreciable and the limited inventory too, Ethan feels "okay" to control , maybe a little too slow/ heavy for a first person experience which can be frustrating but it's understandable considering the kind of experience the game is supposed to be.

All in alI can confidently recommended RE7, it's a very worthwile experience for most of it's duration for whomever is looking for the kind of vibe it provide, just knows that it's not a masterclass all the way in.

Such a fantastic return to form for the resident evil franchise. It's exactly what was needed, a fantastic locale to set a horror in and a set of antagonists make the levels for them unique and awesome to get through. One of the best for me, especially with its focus on horror and less of the action. The change to first person was exactly the spark it needed to revolutionise itself.

Has got to be one of the most scariest and nauseous games I've ever played. The first segment had me on my toes WAY to much than it should've and that's something to love about this game. Its revitalization of the Resident Evil Franchise and the creation of the Re:Engine to give way to so many more amazing entries and remakes is something to be commended for. That being said the game does start to lose its scary factor as the game progresses and as you become more understanding of the environment you're in. Only thing i truly hated was the section with Lucas Baker and the fury and hatred i developed for him in that moment is something i need to go to a therapist for.

A very strong return to what the Resident Evil franchise used to be! Decent story, creepy setting and characters, jump-scares, good combat, and some puzzles.

Only downside was that some of the insta-deaths felt cheap, and the ending wasn’t as climactic as I was expecting - though have heard the “Not a Hero” DLC is a good way to complete the story

Not what I expected. I've been on a Resident Evil binge and just prior, finished Revelations 1 & 2 and RE1: HD Remake. I went in blind with this game. I always assumed everything took place is a house and the entire game was some kind of chase scene, almost like Nemesis.

It's not at all like that. The game was fantastic. I found the first couple of hours to be very scary but its not nearly as much after that. Puzzle were ok, not difficult by any means. The scope of the game was FAR more broad than I anticipated and if you played Revelations 1 you will like this section of the game. The story was great. One of the best Resident Evils I have played and I very much look forward to playing Village soon.

Great game. An absurd horror that grips you and leaves you feeling empty after you complete it. Ethan goes in search of his girlfriend, Mia, who has been missing for some time... Arriving at her parents' house he experiences true horror and hell. The game has a very good atmosphere, play with headphones, Seriously, it's practically another game with Surround Sound in your head. The game's story is good but it's Resident Evil, unfortunately we will always have biochemical weapons as an explanation for exaggerated monsters and everything... Typical Resident Evil but fuck it. The gameplay is very good and fluid and doesn't make any mistakes. We have a few varieties of weapons and I like that, I'm always lost as to which weapon to use and so on. The graphics are cool, I liked it, especially Mia's hair haha. but what impresses me most is the Setting, Sound Design and Atmosphere of this game. I've seen a lot of people give up because they were scared hahaha but you can understand, let's face it, it's terrible the fear you feel at every corner you turn and out of nowhere there's an old woman with a lamp waiting for you and running after you in a super dark house haha . very good, I highly recommend it, now I'm going to play Village.
