I didn't complete any game last month, but October has been so different since I ended games that I was playing since September.

- Secret Files 2: Puritas Cordis - NDS - 05/10 - 9:21 h
- Age of Mythology: Retold - PC - 05/10 - 32:48 h
- Football Manager 2024 [R] - PC - 06/10 - 64:56 h
- The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom - Switch - 13/10 - 30:50 h
- Inazuma Eleven [R] - NDS - 22/10 - 39:57 h

My favorite game was The Legend of Zelda (I wish it was named as "The Legend of Link"). I enjoyed it a lot and made me restart BOTW, which I've never finished.

Also, I finished all campaigns of Age of Mythology: Retold. I love the original game, and this remake looks great. I will play new content which is being released this month!

It was a replay-only month for completions, oops.

Sea of Stars (NG+): Aug. 29 – Oct 06
The Messenger: Sept 13 – Oct 09
The Secret of Monkey Island: Oct 19
Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge: Oct 19 - 26

But all games I love.

My completions for this month:

1. Granblue Fantasy Relink - 7/10
2. Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City - 5/10
3. Timesplitters 2 - 7/10 (Replay)
4. Tekken 6 - 7/10
5. The Punisher (90s 2D Beat em Up) - 7/10
6. A King's Tale: Final Fantasy 15 - 8/10
7. Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny - 6/10
8. Tekken 8: Unforgotten Echoes - 7/10
9. SkyGunner - 6/10
10. Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings - 6/10
11. Mister Mosquito - 7/10
12. Ghostbusters: The Game Remaster - 7 or 8/10
13. Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin - 7/10
14. Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero - 7/10
15. Metal Gear Solid: Ghost Babel - 7/10
16. Tekken 3 - 8/10

I might've mentioned Granblue last month but don't remember. I have beaten 16 games this month but I dropped at least 4 games which is something I don't like doing, I prefer to drop a game once every few weeks and hopefully months. I really didn't enjoy Sand Land, Tomb Raider Lost Artifact, and Slave Zero X. Pizza Tower I'm wondering I could enjoy if I played in on PS5. But those games were really unenjoyable for me especially Sand Land, I put 20 hours into that game and I ultimately couldn't beat it, and I enjoyed the anime. Tomb Raider Lost Artifact was way too obtuse and annoying for my tastes, I heard this was the better version of Tomb Raider 3 and if it is, I don't want to play anymore than the first level of the latter I played. Slave Zero X however is a weird one, I WANTED to like this game and beat it but the game is just a mess it crashes like no tomorrow and while the concept on paper is interesting, everything about the game feels like it was made by game devs making a game for the very first time. I got to last zone but then just gave up.

Overall good month despite some rough patches here and there. Surprised I shoved in 15-16 games when the most I could do is 12-13.

On October ___ I beat [or retired] ___ and gave it a score of ___.

Beat
04 – Children of Morta – 85%
14 – En Garde! – 70%
16 – Paradise Killer – 90%
25 – The Pale Beyond – 85%
29 – Eternal Threads – 65%

Retired
06 – The Eternal Cylinder – 60%
29 – Manifold Garden – No review (I got motion sickness, blech)
30 – Webbed – 55%

Best
I really, really liked Paradise Killer, Children of Morta, and The Pale Beyond. What's neat about this is that none of these were on my wishlist. They were all "extra" games in bundles or freebies from Epic or Amazon or something. The moral of this October is to branch out and play some games that aren't normally what you'd go for.

Worst
The games that were actually on my wishlist (En Garde!, The Eternal Cylinder, Manifold Garden) were short and simple, boring, and gave me motion sickness, respectively.

I've completed three games in October.

2024-10-06: Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine II - 9h21m - PC/Steam
2024-10-29: Sheepy: A Short Adventure - 1h20m - PC/Steam
2024-10-31: Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty - 15h11m - PC/Battle.net

The last time I beat this many games or more in a month was November 2020. October was a good month for me!

On October I finished up 5 games. It was a bit of an increase from September, so at least that is something!

Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire - Oct 03
Gravity Rush 2 - Oct 14
Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition - Oct 23
Steins;Gate: My Darling's Embrace - Oct 24
Little Nightmares II - Oct 29

Nothing to super highlight this month, tbh. Little Nightmares 2 was great and I'm glad that was the Halloween-y game we went with over here. Tomb Raider and Pokemon were certainly Tomb Raider and Pokemon. Exactly what you expect for them if you have played the previous games. Gravity Rush 2 was a bit of a letdown to be honest...I really enjoyed the first one but for some reason I really couldn't get into this one. It felt a bit tedious...And the last one was My Darling's Embrace, which is the last one of the Steins;Gate games I was planning to play. Certainly not my favorite of the bunch, but I just love these guys so much I'd play pretty much anything.

Not sure what is coming for my in November, to be honest! There is nothing that I'm currently playing by myself right now, but I'm sure I'll grab something sooner or later. We shall see!

Another great month for me

Oct. 2nd: Street Fighter 6 (world tour)
Oct. 6th: Cyberpunk 2077
Oct. 10th: The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
Oct. 16th: Tomb Raider: Legend
Oct. 17th: Death's Door
Oct. 18th: Inside
Oct. 20th: Tomb Raider: Underworld
Oct. 25th: Tomb Raider (2013)
Oct. 30th: Rise of the Tomb Raider

Pretty much every game I played this month was either fantastic, or just meh. Street Fighter 6, Cyberpunk 2077, Echoes of Wisdom, Tomb Raider (2013), and Rise of the Tomb Raider were all fantastic, they all got at least a 9/10 from me. Tomb Raider: Legend was pretty decent. Death's Door, Inside, and Tomb Raider Underworld were pretty mediocre. I couldn't even begin do decide which one is my favorite from this month, I'll just say it's a tie between the first 5 that I mentioned ;). I can say that the worst was probably Tomb Raider: Underworld though.

November holds Shadow of the Tomb Raider for me, I can maaaayybee get Stardew Valley 100% this month, and I'll also play Hogwarts Legacy since I picked it up on sale.

Didn't play many games compared to September, playing around with the new car has taken my main attention in terms of free time. Though I am getting the urge again to pull the racing wheel out of the drawer and return to BeamNG/Truck Sim.

October 25 - Abiotic Factor - 37h 29m
Really solid survival game that has a great main questline to keep people on track while being heavily inspired by Half Life and SCP. It took me and two other folks 30+ hours to get to the current endpoint of the game and the main questline is not even over yet with the devs actively releasing new areas and mechanics. Also surprisingly emulates Source engine jank pretty well despite being made in UE5.

October 31 - Chained Together - 03h 53m
Another good Co-Op indie game this year, this one is heavily inspired from the Bennett Foddy game that made a lot of people rage a while back. I played some "friendship breaker" games like Overcooked and Pico Park and these games are way more funny than angry from my experience and Chained Together is no exception. It's less difficult than Bennett Foddy (maybe because its 3D instead of 2D), but you can make it more difficult by changing the settings or playing with more people.

Sadly I only beat one short game this month because I was insanely indecisive about what I wanted to play. Not to mention I'm busy playing with Unreal Engine 5 at the moment and trying to learn how to use it.

The Pony Factory (PC, 10/10, 8/10)

The Pony Factory is a game I like more and more when I think about it. It's another small David Szymanski project and apparently with this, Squirrel Stapler and the upcoming Butcher's Creek he's making his own game universe which ties these three games together. It was so refreshing to play this considering you're not playing a dual weapon wielding badass who spouts edgy/cringey one liners, instead you're a guy with one weapon who is not that strong trying to survive. Playing as someone who wasn't a bad ass was so nice, but the great thing is there's no cheap jump scares at all in this game. It's mainly relying on you to remember enemy positions and take them out as quickly as possibly, while having a gorgeous aesthetic and cheesy B-Movie soundtrack with very fun creature designs for the enemies. It also is pretty funny if you think about it and I love that he's putting a lot of humor in these horror projects. If the DSHGU (David Szymanski Horror Game Universe) will succeed, only time will tell. Szymanski has only made one flop in my eyes with DUSK '82, but most of his projects are really stellar to begin with so I have confidence this will work out.

UE5 learning is still going on for me, but I'm getting some progress done in Sable. I also want to start a longer game but haven't really landed on which one. I was seriously thinking Planescape: Torment EE, but it will depend on what I'm feeling like. Lets just hope next month is better for me in terms of games.

10/03 Half-Life 2: Lost Coast
10/05 Janitor Bleeds
10/10 Silent Hill 2 (2024)
10/14 Super Meat Boy Replay
10/20 Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventure Replay
10/24 Shadow Warrior (2013)
10/27 Dread X Collection 5
10/28 Super Meat Boy Forever

Pretty big month for overall completions for me. I played a lot of smaller games this month on PC, which was an overall nice change of pace. My favorite game was easily Silent Hill 2 (2024), which was an absolute suprise in terms of how great it turned out. I personally think it's on par with the original game with it doing various aspects better than the original and a few things not as well. I highly recommend this remake. The worst game this month was probably Super Meat Boy Forever, which was a pretty disappointing sequel to the original game. I can't believe they decided to ditch the very well controlling original game and it's quick and brutal level design, and decided to be an autorunner with randomized overly long maps. Though I think the new cutscenes are pretty good, the rest of the game is just not great.

Only two completions for me this month, way at the beginning:

10/01 - Firework (Completionist 5h)
10/03 - Starfield (Main+Extras 116h)

Firework was completed in one sitting, Starfield was started back in August so that took a few weeks. These were my last completions before my Game Pass subscription expired. Firework was a short Chinese horror game that reminded me a bit of the Distraint games. Not really scary but there were a couple unsettling bits. I thought it was just OK. I think everyone here knows what Starfield is. I enjoyed my time with it, although I had to rush to complete it before Game Pass ran out so I didn't get to finish all the major side quests which is unfortunate. I enjoyed the story well enough and some of the quests and hand-crafted cities were cool. The exploration was definitely a letdown though.

Definitely not a big completion month for me unfortunately. I spent most of the month cataloging the itch.io Queer Games 2024 bundle which added over 200 games to my backlog. I also went through my library to find potential co-op games to play with my brother who I helped build his first gaming PC this year which is exciting. I also wrote up my first two blog posts for my blog I'm starting at the end of the year which I'm really excited about! Besides that, my goals from last month remain unchanged. I want to finish up my mobile backlog which consists of Great Little War Game, Majesty: The Fantasy Kingdom Sim, and Monument Valley 2. Made decent progress in Great Little War Game. Hopefully I'll be able to finish all three this month.

In Water Ending. Ending Clear: 2/4 (+1). Saves: 63. Items: 203 (+2). Total Damage: 888 pts. Rank: 53. - REPLAY

Silent Hill 2 Remake (PlayStation 5) - October 17, 2024 - 20h 20m 12s - Time was taken from the Results screen, so it may not be entirely accurate. - Combat Challenge: Standard. Puzzles Challenge: Standard. In Water Ending. Ending Clear: 1/8. Collected all of the Memos. Consumables Picked Up: 496. Total Damage Received: 2,838. Favorite Weapon: Steel Pipe. Times Died: 0.

I am pleasantly surprised with the Remake of SIlent Hill 2! I was at first highly skeptical of the remake especially knowing that Bloober Team was making it, because I wasn't a fan of their output and the first trailer didn't fill me with confidence. But closer to launch I became cautiously optimistic, because in the latest trailers and previews, the game started to actually look really good. And yeah Bloober Team actually nailed it! They did a really great job at modernizing this masterpiece. As Calbon said above, I still think the original did some stuff better, but there's a lot that the remake does better. They're pretty much on par with their qualities. I highly recommend it! I hope Bloober Team's new game Cronos: The New Dawn will be just as good.

Happy gaming for November!

I managed to get through a lot of stuff this month.

09 - The 3rd Birthday
13 - Inside
14 - Dagon: The Little Glass Bottle dlc
16 - Silt
17 - Lake Haven - Chrysalis
19 - Choo-Choo Charles
23 - Scanner Sombre
26 - Darq
27 - Swallow the Sea
28 - Sheepy: A Short Adventure
29 - Dagon: The Railway Horror dlc

The Best - It's a really tough call, there was so many good games. Inside and Choo-Choo Charles and Darq all could easily claim the spot but the real surprise for me this month was Sheepy: A Short Adventure. Everything about it just stands out as impressive, it's short, looks great, sounds great, plays great has some great moments to boot. And it's a free game which blows my mind because it's better than a lot of other stuff out there. I want people to give this game a try.

The Worst - Probably The Railway Horror dlc it was just too basic and not even that scary, trying to make a whole experience out of one of H.P. Lovecraft's dreams based on a letter he wrote. It was a neat idea but I wasn't too impressed. If dlc doesn't count then The 3rd Birthday would be the loser, it suffers from really annoying controls, repetitive gameplay and frustrating design choices. A real shame because if this game had the rough edges sanded off it it might be something incredible, but as it stands it's just like the unfortunate last remnant of the Parasite Eve series :(

The Rest - Inside was great, loved a lot about it, does so much so well, even though at times it starts to feel a bit aimless and the ending is a tad mediocre imo.
The Little Glass Bottle is close to The Railway Horror though a bit more charming.
Silt is fascinating and was a lot of fun to experience, it just lost out to other better games this month too.
Lake Haven - Chrysalis was a neat little homage to PS1 era survival horror games, though it's just a prelude and tbh a bit boring and lacking on content. Puzzles are basic and there's no real survival elements, but it shows promise for the future and the atmosphere is great.
Choo-Choo Charles impressed me a lot, I had so much fun with it, especially in Nightmare mode where the stakes are a lot higher due to permadeath.
Scanner Sombre has made me interested in playing more LiDAR games because I love the atmosphere it manages to create.
Darqwas another pleasant surprise, love the style and the puzzles and scope were a lot of fun to engage with, lots of clever ideas that were well executed.
Swallow the Sea was rather bizarre, very short but interesting.

Beacon Pines - PC (22/10)
Life Is Strange: Before the Storm - PC (31/10)

I enjoyed all three games I completed this month. Inside was my favourite, followed closely by Beacon Pines. Both had great stories and were perfect for the spooky season. I also enjoyed BtS but I played the remaster which has some annoying audio and subtitle issues; story was still great.

Oof this month was rough near the end in terms of how bad the games were. Two 1/10 games not only in the same month but in the same week is pretty unheard of from me.

Oct 4 - The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom (Switch) - 10/10
Oct 6 - Resident Evil 7: Biohazard (PS4) - 9/10
Oct 6 - Resident Evil 7: Biohazard - Not a Hero (PS4) - 6/10
Oct 7 - Don't Pee (PC) - 6/10
Oct 7 - Mega Coin Squad (PC) - 6/10
Oct 8 - Starship Damrey (3DS) - 7/10
Oct 15 - Link-a-Pix Color (3DS) - 4/10
Oct 19 - Pic-a-Pix Color (3DS) - 4/10
Oct 21 - Art Style: ZENGAGE (DS) - 6/10
Oct 27 - Creepy Tale 2 (Switch) - 6/10
Oct 27 - Death's Door (Switch) - 8/10
Oct 28 - Connection ReHaunted (Switch) - 1/10
Oct 29 - Body of Evidence (Switch) - 4/10
Oct 31 - Dream Alone (Switch) - 1/10

Best Game: The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
Worst Game: Dream Alone

Kind of funny I started with the best game of the month and ended with the worst.
