I know this is a really old thread but for anyone who stumbles on this... You can change the controls! Tank is one option, but relative to the camera exists too. I believe the traditional RE style is called Reverse, and the other is Normal, but I would need to double check... Anyway, don't let these ill-informed comments put you off this phenomenal game :P
